Why Jesus Isn't Afraid Of Today or Tomorrow
A strong sense of destiny comes with this verse.
Jesus is going to Jerusalem to die.
The last time Herod was heard from in Luke, he was perplexed at reports of Jesus miracles.
He had beheaded John the baptist, and the new reports were that Jesus was John returned from the dead.

Why are Pharisees concerned about Jesus safety?
They weren’t.
They wanted him back in Judea where they could watch him, trap him, and destroy him.
So they tried to get him out of Jerusalem.
Jesus calle Herod a fox.
In our culture, a fox is sly.
In that culture, a fox was insignificant.
“Today and tomorrow”… Jesus is telling us that this is the time of his present opportunity.
The time was present, but it was short.
Destiny.
I must go on, I must keep going… I’ve got to keep the clock ticking.
Jesus not only eppected to suffer, he expected to die as a prophet.... it was part of the task.
Jerusalem is to be noticed.
He mentions her by name 3 times in this passage.
Your house… could Jesus be talking about the temple he visited as a small boy when his father and mother left him behind?
The Schedule for Jesus.
Danger.
Jesus wasn’t bothered by it.
He was on schedule.
Because I could not stop for Death—
He kindly stopped for me—
The Carriage held but just Ourselves—
And Immortality.=

Nothing was going to deter him… speed it up or slow it down.
Jesus was on schedule… From the beginning of eternity, Jesus, the Son of God, would be crucified in Jerusalem at Passover.... SEe 1 Peter 1.20

Even Herod could not put God off schedule.
The Future for Israel
And along with the schedule for Jesus, there is a Future for Israel.
The Messiah will return and be recognized and received by the people.
When we read that 35th verse, we see Palm Sunday.
Look a little deeper.
While they did in fact say it on Palm Sunday, they do not have their true fulfilment until Jesus returns in glory.

without peace until...
Israel’s house has been left desolate.
There is no king, no temple, no sacrifice.

She’s not forsaken
She is without peace, but will not always be...
This messiah must be seated on David’s throne.
The Worse It Gets The Better He Is
It takes little danger to fear the worst; It takes less faith to know God’s best.
Imagine if you had more faith.
God Has a plan.
Jesus has a plan.
