Philippians 2:9–11 KJV 1900
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I. Introduction

a. The Psalmist talks about how wonderful God really was.

Psalm 18:1–3 KJV 1900
1 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. 3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

i. This Psalm was written when David had been delivered out of the hand of Saul.

ii. David mentioned several things her in this passage:

1. His rock.

2. His fortress.

3. His Deliverer.

4. His strength.

5. His buckler. (defense/shield)

6. Horn of my salvation. (Flask/Container)

7. High tower. (refuge)

iii. David understood Who God was and referenced to Him as best as He could put into words!

b. God has over 1200 titles throughout the Scripture.

i. Some titles attributed to God:

1. Jehovah Jireh – God will provide

2. Jehovah Rophe – The Lord who Heals

3. Jehovah Nissi – The Lord our banner

4. Jehovah M’kaddesh – The Lord who sanctifies

5. Jehovah Shalom – The Lord of peace

6. Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord is our righteousness

ii. These many titles are only man’s attempts of grasp the God that is incomparable! He CANNOT be replicated! His ways far exceed anyone anywhere! Look at what the Psalmist had to say.

Psalm 86:8 KJV 1900
8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; Neither are there any works like unto thy works.

II. Jesus

a. Jesus is God in the flesh! He fulfilled everything that God was known for throughout all of time! The reason for this is because Jesus was God in the flesh dwelling in the midst of His creation!

1 Timothy 3:16 KJV 1900
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

i. Jesus made it very clear to Philip and the rest of the disciples that He was none other than Jehovah in the flesh!

John 14:8–11 KJV 1900
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

b. As I made mention earlier, God has been given more than 1200 titles, but those are not His NAME!

i. Now that we established the fact the Jesus is God in the flesh, I want to go through something else about the Father’s name!

ii. Jesus tells us that the Father does actually have a name and He tells us what that name is!

John 5:43 KJV 1900
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

1. So, if He came in His Father’s name then what name did, He come in?

Luke 1:30–31 KJV 1900
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

2. So, the name of the Father is, JESUS!

3. There is no other name higher than this name!

Acts 4:12 KJV 1900
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

iii. In fact if you look in the Scriptures you will see that Jesus on a few occasions referred to Himself as the I AM!

John 8:21–24 KJV 1900
21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. 22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 18:4–6 KJV 1900
4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

1. When you look at these passages you will begin to realize the power of the revelation of Who He is!

2. You will begin to realize that the God of the universe is the one who took on flesh to die for YOUR sins!

III. The Powerful Name of Jesus!

a. All power belongs to God and therefore when you speak His name you have access to that power!

Matthew 28:18 KJV 1900
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Colossians 3:17 KJV 1900
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

i. Whatever we do we should use the Name of Jesus!

b. Acts 3 – The lame man was healed by the name of Jesus. Healing comes at the mention of the name of Jesus.

Acts 3:6 KJV 1900
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

c. Acts 16 – The girl with spirit of divination was delivered at the name of Jesus. Deliverance comes at the mention of the name of Jesus.

Acts 16:18 KJV 1900
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

d. Jesus means – Jehovah is our salvation!

Matthew 1:21 KJV 1900
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
John 14:26 KJV 1900
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

4. What do you need today just ask it in His name? For He said whatever you ask IN HIS NAME you would receive it!

John 14:13–14 KJV 1900
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 16:23–24 KJV 1900
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. 24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
