Wasn't with me to Revelation chapter number 3. Revelation chapter number 3.
How many of you are missing an hour of sleep?
I don't try to find it now, okay.
Revelation chapter number 3 will begin reading and verse number 7. It had to be Congress who came up with this time of setting.
The time to change your clocks during the wee morning hours of Sunday morning.
The bad idea.
A better idea would be to do that on a Friday afternoon, right?
Get off work a little early.
You don't have to I don't sleep well during the time change cuz I'm always afraid.
I know these new phones and all these alarm clocks are supposed to do it themselves, but I don't trust them.
And a lot of times, it was not just a couple years ago.
I would always have my mom mom.
Please call me.
Make sure I'm up, because I didn't, I never want to sleep in on Sunday morning.
But anyway, Revelation chapter 3 and verse number seven.
We're continuing our series preaching, through the letters that Jesus wrote.
To the churches in Asia Minor.
It says, number 7 into the angel of the church in Philadelphia, right?
These things says, he who is Holy, he who is true, he who has the Key of David.
He who opens?
And no one shuts and shuts and no one opens.
I know your works.
See, I have set before you an open door and no one can shut it for you have a little strength.
You have kept my word and have not denied my name.
Indeed.
I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie.
Indeed.
I will make them come and worship before your feet and to know that I have loved you.
Because you have kept my command to persevere.
I also will keep you from the hour of trial, which shall come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on the Earth.
Behold I come quickly.
Hold fast.
What you have that?
No one may take your crown.
He who overcomes I will make him a pillar in the temple of God.
He shall go out no more.
And I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of Heaven, from my God and I will write on him my new name.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says, to the churches.
Let's pray.
Our Father.
we thank you, Lord for This beautiful day.
Lord, you've allowed us to come together and meet in your house.
We thank you.
Lord, for the songs that we have sung this morning, that remind us of your grace remind us of your mercy.
And father, we are blessed.
Beyond measure, we are undeserving of anything good that will come from your hand.
But father, you have poured out upon us.
Immeasurably your grace and your mercy.
Father, I pray as we look at this passage of scripture, father.
I pray that you would be our teacher.
I pray that you would fill me up in your spirit and or allow me to be poured out as a vessel.
Father, I pray that we would apply.
These truths are heart.
And we ask all these things in Christ name and all of God's people said, amen.
We're looking at the church that was located in Philadelphia.
And we're naming this Philadelphia.
A faithful church, and we're continuing to move throughout these letters that the Lord Jesus wrote to the seven churches who were in the Asia Minor.
Martin modern-day turkey.
We have covered this far, five of the seven churches in today.
Come in looking at the 6 church, the church in Philadelphia, not the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but the Philadelphia in Asia Minor youngest of all the cities that Jesus wrote to in Revelation Chapter 2 and 3.
It was a city that was established in 189 BC and so is relatively young compared to the other cities such as Sardis that was started in 1200 cc and is also a more or less smaller city than the other cities that we have looked at such as Ephesus.
In Smyrna and so forth.
I just said he was located in a narrow pass between two mountain ranges.
It was located in a valley and because of its strategic location.
It was used as a military buffer City.
That way, if enemy our armies came through, passing, through this narrow pass, it could be delayed by a small Force at Philadelphia.
Philadelphia was established by King human.
He's the king of pergamus.
And the King named it, after a great love that he had for his brother younger brother King at Alice, which hints the name Philadelphia, the name Philadelphia means the city of him, who loves his brother.
We know the more concise version of that, the city of Philadelphia means the City of Brotherly, Love.
What being that the city of Philadelphia was a part of the Roman Empire.
Philadelphia was a home of to numerous temples and to numerous gods and goddesses of ancient Greece.
And so, it is to the church in Philadelphia that Jesus speaks these verses, and he comes to them, is very amazing.
He comes to them with words with no words of complaint.
He comes that there was no words of condemnation, but rather he comes to them with words of Praise.
He comes to them with words of encouragement, with words of promise.
I think the Lord's words to this week church, but faithful church have a lot to say to our hearts today.
If we're going tomorrow model our church after any of the seven churches.
It would have to be this church here at Philadelphia.
So I want us this morning to look at the words of Jesus and find find out why this is such a model church.
This faithful Church.
Notice number one, the church and its Master the church and her master.
Each of the seven messages to the churches, had a purpose, especially in the opening phrases opening lines of each letter of focusing.
The Believers upon the person and work of the Lord, Jesus Christ Christ himself was to be the great reality that shaped their thinking.
Whether they were anticipating persecution, whether they were going through and having to stand up against false teaching and against the temptation to sin.
This is why that in each opening of each letter.
There is a description of Christ himself.
There is a description of his attributes.
We notice this.
A number one.
It says, in Christ is riding and he says to the angel of the church in Philadelphia.
The words of the Holy One in true one, who has the Key of David who opens, and no one will shut and who shuts and no one opens.
So, right out of the gate of the very beginning of the sweater, Jesus presents himself as holy.
He presents himself as true as holy.
Jesus is set apart.
That's what holy means.
It is to be Sanctified to be above all other.
Jesus is saying that he is Holy.
He said above all others that why is set apart?
Well, he is set apart because he is pure, he is righteous.
