Opening & Intro
Main Point
Jesus is coming.
What will you do?
Why Does it Matter
MIcah 4 and 5 is laying out the facts.
It is a pointed prophesy about the coming of Jesus.
This is a prophesy about Christmas.
As we look at the words of Micah we will see...
Scripture
Over all - God will replace the corrupt rulers with one ruler (Christ)
4:1-4 - All nations will worship the God of Jacob; They will want to learn His ways; God will bring peace for all time.
4:5 - Follow God and live
4:6-8 - Yes they were judged; God will make them strong again; The one from David will rule forever.
4:9-10 - People have to face the pain of rebellion but that will give birth to an era of peace.
Like a woman in labour the pain brings about a beautiful baby.
Meaningful choice requires pain.
It is a fact of life.
If we don’t struggle then how will we learn?
4:11-5:1 - The Oppressors did not understand God's plan.
God will deal with them eventually.
For now Israel and Judah are in a bit of a pickle.
Ignorance is not an excuse.
5:2-5a - Jesus Maybe?
Born in Bethlehem to rule to the ends of the earth (Place and Tribe)
A saviour is coming.
He will rule!
5:5b-9 - People tried to rise up apart from God. ONLY God can resuce His people; God can take the weakest and make them strong.
We have to wait on Him!
We can’t do it alone.
You can’t earn your way in to peace.
There is no battle to win apart from God.
5:10-15 - God removed the barriers to people relying on Him; Military might and idols; judging nation that refused to submit; All people either will love God or face His wrath.
Once all obstacles are removed from our lives God is clearly seen.
Application
What obstacles are in our lives that will keep us from seeing God?
List some common ones.
Closing
In the end we have to choose for ourselves what is worth it to us.
We don’t inherit our faith.
We have to ask for it and live our lives like we believe it.
Which brings me back to my original question.
“Jesus is coming.
What will you do?”
