What areas of our life do we need to know the truth?
What areas of our life do we need to know the truth?
Easy answer is every area! But we need to be specifically aware of certain areas.
Who God says He is- Jeremiah 9:3 ““And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,” says the Lord.”
Who God says I am- 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Complete/Whole/Peace/Joy/Content
Sin/Holiness/Goodness- Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.”
Judgment- Matthew 25:31-46
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
The work of Jesus on the cross-
Who our enemy is- Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
How our enemy is working- John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
How we fight against the enemy- James 4:7 “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
The lies we have believed- John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”
The truth about other people (who they are and their motivations about us)- Luke 9:47 “And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him,”
Matthew 22:18 “But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?”
The truth about our circumstances
God’s purpose for my life- John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
John 14:12-14 ““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
That I can know His voice- Job 33:14-16 “For God may speak in one way, or in another, Yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falls upon men, While slumbering on their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, And seals their instruction.”
John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
The power of Holy Spirit- 2 Timothy 3:5 “having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
Churches have been too busy conforming people to the church rather than conforming them to Christ!
When the Spirit fills you- the church resists you! The spirit of religion HATES the Holy Spirit of God and the manifestations of the Holy Spirit!
Micah 7:6 “For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.”
Worship- John 4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.””
Woman told another woman “Jesus loves you.” She answered, “Thank you so much!” First woman said, “He wants you to love Him back.” Tears/conversation
Psalm 25:5 “Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”
Truth is the road that leads to the heart of the Father.
Truth is a person not a thing.
Truth is Jesus
John 1:18 “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”
John 17:25-26 “O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.””
