Today we are talking about Anxiety, and I actually want to start with this simple thing before we get started.
I get anxious too, honestly alot of people do and even through you get anxious or have anxiety attacks I want you to know first before we even begin is that you are not alone.
Anyways lets jump in,
I had to turn off the news on my phone and honestly I still have not turned it back on fully.
It was right when covid came out and I remembered I was just glued to the news, I wanted to know everything that was happening, for part of it I felt like it was curing my anxiety and that if I knew the path then the plans would just fall in to place.
It was not until 3 months later where I am just trying to get through the days and try to just survive that summer. I decided that I cannot spend my time watching the news, I need to turn it off and just rest and for that I needed to spend time in things that gave me engery and for me thats being in God’s creation and just marveling at it.
See anxiety can strike us anywhere maybe you are like me and in the news it hits you the most. Or maybe its a test where you feel axnious, a sports event, a social gather, event in a normal day it can strike and it all is just a lot for us, all of it is a lot. How do we handle it all.
That is the trick, we cannot handle the way the world will go, the most we can do is to handle ourselfs.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
We must know that God gave us a spirit of power, of Love and of self discipline.
What is the oppisite of anxiety? Power, or a better way let me read you it from the message
2 Timothy 1:7
God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.
The opposite of anxeity is boldness. Where does Boldness come from? from the Holy Spirit
Where do you find yourself more anxious:
school or home?
in a exam or public speaking?
talking on the phone or meeting someone in person?
a decision you have to make or someone deciding something for you?
To be honest this whole series is going to be sumarized to one point is that we cannot do it by ourselfs, but we can do it with the power of the Holy Spirit.
you are at a point in your life where you are trying to awnser these big questions about who you are and where you fit in or where you can make a difference.
it’s a lot. So instead of worrying about these awnsers I encourage you to 1. see that you are bold in the Holy Spirit, but the other part is that I ask that you would find rest in God when Anxiety strikes.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
In Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” how do you feel when Paul commands do not be anxious about anything?
When you feel anxious, when you feel the world crashing in around you, pray. Pray in the same order that paul presents,
Why is prayer important when you are facing anxiety?
With thanksgiving
thank God for all things that are good and worthy of thanking him for first.
you acknowledge all the things he does for you and how you are thankful for them
you acknowledge for yourself that God has provided and you are strengthened that he will provide.
When you are anxious why should you do a prayer of thanksgiving?
Bring forward your requests, what are you anxious for?
lay it down before God, he is the Good father who wants to listen to his children, he is the father who always has time for his kids, he wants to show love, he wants to hear your faults and your success.
pray for peace
that God would give you peace in your anxious situation.
There is nothing better then the peace of Jesus Christ,
nothing.
So this week when you get anxious, even if its a little or even if its a bigger wave of anxiousness where you feel like you are having a axniety attack, I want you to follow this that you would be Bold, becuase you have the Holy Spirit and that you also pray through those steps,

my prayer and the Leaders prayer here is that you would have a abundance of peace, not just peace but that the peace would be from Jesus and from his work in your life. We don’t want you to be axnious to the point of vomit or physical illness, we know that anxiousness is a normal peice of life but with the peace of Christ you can overcome anything.
