THE SOURCE OF WISDOM

Ultimately in God

Prov. 2:6 “For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Prov. 3:19 “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens.”
Prov. 21:30 “There is no wisdom and no understanding And no counsel against the Lord.”
Prov. 30:3 “Neither have I learned wisdom, Nor do I have the knowledge of the Holy One.”

Prov. 4:5 “Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.”

Prov. 8:11 ““For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.”

Better Than Strength

Prov. 21:22 “A wise man scales the city of the mighty And brings down the stronghold in which they trust.”
Prov. 24:5-6 “A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power. For by wise guidance you will wage war, And in abundance of counselors there is victory.”

Provides A Future

Prov. 24:14 “Know that wisdom is thus for your soul; If you find it, then there will be a future, And your hope will not be cut off.”

PROBLEMS

One Might Be Wise In Their Own Eyes

Prov. 3:7 “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.”
Prov. 9:12 “If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you alone will bear it.”
Prov. 26:5 “Answer a fool as his folly deserves, That he not be wise in his own eyes.”
Prov. 26:12 “Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”
Prov. 26:16 “The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can give a discreet answer.”
Prov. 28:11 “The rich man is wise in his own eyes, But the poor who has understanding sees through him.”

The Wrong Type Of People Seek It

Prov. 14:6 “A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none, But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding.”
Prov. 17:16 “Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, When he has no sense?”

Those Who Need Wisdom Turn Away From The Wise

Prov. 15:12 “A scoffer does not love one who reproves him, He will not go to the wise.”
Prov. 8:11 ““For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.”
