When was a time you’ve suffered?
Tell story of dad lancing foot.
Tell story of having to suck snot out of everly’s nose...
God is not an ambulance. He doesn’t come together after the fact to put the pieces back together.
God is a surgeon. He is using hard times in our lives to shape us into what he wants us to be.
God is at work to produce a peculiar person through suffering.

God Redeems our suffering for spirtual surgery.

The writer of psalms describes how God deals justly with us (v. 65, 68
THis was in the middle of deep affliction in His life
How does He do this?

This dependence has shown in the change God’s WOrd produced in their lives.

Focusing on God’s surgery
v. 71 It is good to me that I was afflicted that I might learn your statues.

WE learn of our purposeful design in God’s mission.

A life surrendered to God reorients the way we view suffering.
It also opens our eys to how God designed us to participate in His mission of Redemption throughout the world
God gave us our mission on earth (v.74)
God shapes and fashions us
We are designed to contribute to GOd’s mission (v.73)
