INTRO: $50 in Tom Thumb - God PROVIDED!
Last week - “God wants to take YOU Forward.”
Like the children of Israel, God is reminding US, Don’t Forget to Remember the Blessings of Provision.
PROVISION = supply with food or drink.
All provision comes from God.
2 Cor 9:8 “8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”
Mt 6:31-32 “31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.”
Ps 37:25 “I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor His seed begging for bread.”
It’s amazing how the Lord provides...and we are grateful that He does.
Let’s look at the BLESSINGS OF PROVISION.
THE CONDITION OF PROVISION - 3
THE CONDITION OF PROVISION - 3
In verse 3, the conditions are IF/Then.
“If you want to see a rainbow, THEN you have to endure the rain.”
IF you change everything about you, THEN everything will change around you.
2 Chron 7:14 “IF my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
v.3 - IF you follow my decrees AND obey my commands = LAWS; God’s laws are to be followed.
Apodictic Laws - 10 Commandments.
Mark 12:30-31 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’
31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
“Don’t roll your eyes at me.”
Casuistic Laws - IF this is the case, THEN do this...
Ex 21:22 “22 “Now suppose two men are fighting, and in the process they accidentally strike a pregnant woman so she gives birth prematurely. If no further injury results, the man who struck the woman must pay the amount of compensation the woman’s husband demands and the judges approve.” PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A PENALTY!
But the CONDITION of PROVISION here does not list a PENALTY…Instead it list a blessing.
THE PROCESS OF PROVISION - 4
THE PROCESS OF PROVISION - 4
GOD IS A GOD OF ORDER! ORDER = PROCESS. Process = Patience.
1 Cor 14:40 “Be sure that everything is done decently and in order.” NLT
Process of Salvation - Acts 2:38 “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Here’s the Process of Provision...
v. 4 - I will send you rain in its season - Ground will yield crops/trees will bear fruit.
All plants need water to survive, therefore rain is important. Too much or too little rainfall can be harmful, even devastating to crops. Rainy season = Oct - March.
God knows what you need. He will supply it…but you have to go through HIS PROCESS.
THE ABUNDANCE OF PROVISION - 5
THE ABUNDANCE OF PROVISION - 5
Abundance = a very large quantity.
Ps 23:5 “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.”
A cup runs over because it has exhausted its capacity to contain what is being poured into it.
Since the LORD is your Shepherd, you have ABUNDANCE of PROVISIONS. CARE; Rest; JOY; Protection;
Some are saying “Where is the Money?”
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
Not prosperity...that’s going FORWARD in your giving. God is not stingy!
SEE - The PROCESS of PROVISION results in His ABUNDANCE for your every need. He doesn’t want to just give you a little something..He want’s your cup to OVERFLOW.
v. 5 - That what the scripture means when it says “Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.”
CLOSE: DON’T FORGET TO REMEMBER THE BLESSINGS OF PROVISION.
These Blessings have CONDITIONS. If/Then.
These Blessings have a PROCESS.
These Blessings have ABUNDANCE.
Eph 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
