And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.
And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Two Devasting Decisions
Decision - conclusion or resolution reached after consideration.
There are some decision that has changed history as we know it. (Atomic Bomb)(Covid)
There are some decision that can not be undone. (Murder)(Execution)
There are some decision you just have to live with. (Amputation)
But those are not the greatest decision, not even close.
This incredible scene opens with two young ladies torn between two worlds.
Weeping at the feet of Naomi, heart broken, and sadden over the lost of their spouse and now at the news of the mother-law leaving them.
This is no easy decision for neither 3 of them.
A special bond has developed between them call love.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What Stopping You From Following Jesus
a. There are people who makes quick
decisions with no thought.
1. Orphah should have waited and not
made a decision in the heat of the
battle.
2. Ruth was resolved, there really wasn't
a battle, she knew the truth.
b. There are people who make selfish
decisions.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
1. Orphah knew there needed to be a
change, but was not willing to make
it.
2. Ruth counted the cost.
c. People who make emotional decisions,
over what they think is love.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1. Orphah loved the world.
2. Ruth loved God.
