REGENERATION TEACHING SERIES

Colossians 1:22 (NASB95)
22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—

Embracing the reconciled Identity

Reconciliation. Restoration of friendly relationships and of peace where before there had been hostility and alienation. Ordinarily it also includes the removal of the offense which caused the disruption of peace and harmony.
when two people are at odds like Jews vs Arabs Republican vs Democrat
think about the worse relationship you have on Earth someone who dislikes you the most
you don’t want be around them or face them
even in your good relationships when there was an argument or disagreement and there is this tension or wall up
when things are not right with my wife I can’t do anything
when things are not right with you and God you feel that tension
There is a wall there between you and the other person
situation
whenever you are reconciled
God not only removes the wall between Men and himself but we become a new creation and take on a new Identity
We no longer are hostile enemies but
Now have a new identity in Him
Embracing the Reconciled Identity
This new identity is what we need to brace
It is critical that we understand what that is
our identity in Christ is
complication
if we fail to understand who we are in christ
You can’t receive everything God has for you
It will be impossible for you to live life like God intended
Worse We will be ineffective as Christians or Powerless Christians
There are benefits that comes with the new Identity that unbelievers don't have
In the Natural as Americans we have rights and advantages afforded to us because of our identity as Americans
that doesn’t exist in any other country the Canadian Truckers protest is an example for peacefully protesting restrictions they had authorities physically remove them and they froze their bank accounts after removing them
That would not happen lawfully here in the US
our identity as Americans doesn't work in the spiritual realm
When I pray I don’t pray as a black man
I don’t pray as an American
If want the power of God to move or intervene in the situation
I cannot pray as any of my Earthly Identities
if I prayed as a black Man then I would probably find myself praying against other people like the police
my identity as a democrat republican or an American doesn't matter in the kingdom of God
I pray as a citizen in God’s Kingdom my new Identity
We have to be more versed in our identity as reconciled believers than our identity as anything else
How do we make sure that all that we do is spirit led especially in our prayers?
It really comes from time in the word
resolution

The reconciled believer’s true Identity is a Child of God

Galatians 3:26 “26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”
After really going in on the Galatians in chapter 3 about how we are made right with God by our faith and not by the law of moses
Our identity in Christ includes being redeemed from the curse of the law
Galatians 3:13 “13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—”
the curse of the law is spiritual death
curse of sickness and disease
curse of Poverty
Galatians 3:29 “29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.”
Paul wanted us to know and really get that we are God’s Children it is repeated a few times
Romans 8:14-17 “14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.”
Our identity in Christ includes being an adopted child and not a slave
spirit of slavery - a child doing chores like washing dishes or cleaning their room out of fear of being in trouble not because they wanted to help out my Mom around the house
adoption is an indication of relationship! you were chosen
Are adopted children better off than biological ?
every single right and privilege as a biological
My Mother has 4 adopted children. Legally, they all have the same last name as my mother and are legally my sisters
Most of them do not feel that way “Maya” behavior at my Mom’s Birthday Party

Embracing our new identity includes reconciling others to Christ

2 Corinthians 5:18–20 (NASB95)
18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Does body of Christ share the Gospel enough? if not why not?
I think many of us are scared to share the gospel with others
for me it’s difficult to share with my family mainly because they know my history
to really share the gospel you have to deal with Sin
you share with the unbeliever then you pray
Trust what the word says and allow the Holy Spirit to do the work
Matthew 9:37-38 “37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.””
Celebration
the deepest type of love is the consideration of others
they did you wrong disrespected you
and you still show love and consideration
you still pray for them
The same way God loved us brought us back to himself put his spirit in us takes care of us
even though we did nothing to deserve it
Romans 5:8 “8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
All God is asking us to do when he take on that new identity as kingdom citizens is love one another
The Challenge:
Share the gospel with others the biblical way
Pray for those who need to be reconciled
Colossians 1:9 Ephesians 1:17-18 prayer scriptures
ask that you fill us with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding
Help us to know in a more profound way
Who we really are in you
Give us revelation knowledge of your will and your purposes concerning us
