The MARK of a Servant- Compassion

I. Marks of Compassion-what compassion looks like.

A. He helped those who came to him.

B. He also went to them. 2:15

C. He had more than a superficial relationship.

D. He had personal contact.

II. Methods of Compassion-what we will do.

A. We will seek to meet the physical needs. 2:11

B. We will seek to meet the spiritual needs. 2:5

C. We will seek to meet the communal needs. 2:15

III. The Master of Compassion

A. Jesus saw the need. 2:5

Lamentations 3:51

My eye affects my heart because of all the daughters of my city.

B. Jesus carried the load. 1:41

This term means to be overrun with or to bare the load.

Jesus did not only see the need but he took personal responsibility to meet the need.

C. He did this on a continual basis. It was not a one and done situation. 3:10

D. He also had compassion on his own. 2:23
