What is Show what is Justification video by got questions
Justify is used
38 times in NT
and only 15 times in OT
most have to do with how people are not justified
or how the wicked will be justified with judgement
except one verse
11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.
In the OT they had atonement
the sacrifcies of animals was an atonement for the wrong they did
just a covering
but they looked forward to justifcation
when the righteous servant would justify many
and when He did
he talked about justification 5 times in the gospels
Jesus’ Mentions of Justification:
Matt 11:19; Matthew 12:37; Luke 7:35; Luke 16:15; Luke 18:14
if you look at them all even these verse there is no
how to be justified only how you are not justified
like Luke 16:15 says
15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
like the scales people try to justify themselves
but God judges the heart
1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)
7... For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.
what if you have a good heart?
9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
Ecclesiastes 9:3 (NKJV)
3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
After this may we shout out what David shouted
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David When Nathan the Prophet Went to Him, After He Had Gone in to Bathsheba.
1 Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.
18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.
there it is the build up of 1,600 years of OT history
really 4,000 years since the fall of man until Jesus
Jesus comes and teaches that no one is justified
imagine how many people maybe had the same heart as David
desired to be justified
they have a broken and contrite heart
they want to be cleansed
then boom the verse verse on how to be justified comes
first was
39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
the biggest mind blow in Jewish Histroy
a verse unlike anyother
we been in Romans 3 this month
and here is why Justification is the theme
because it gives us the cry of Psalms 51
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
Justification in no way is accomplished in our efforts
only freely in Jesus
Simple yes
but to a heart that cries out like David
its rest, its the joy of your heart, it a long waited freedom!
