When I was a young Christian, during my teen years, I remember praying for the salvation of my parents.
At the time I was also wrestling with the call to ministry, the call to preach.
I tried in my prayers to bargain with God.
I told him, “If you save my parents, then I will accept your call to preach.”
But God made it very clear to me that He doesn’t bargain with us.
It was as if He said to me, “No, I don’t work that way.
First, you trust me by accepting the calling I have for you, then I will save your parents!”
And that is exactly what happened.
