I. They Waited on the Lord vs. 1-2
I. They Waited on the Lord vs. 1-2
A. They moved out and stopped at the Jordan, and wisely for Yahweh to speak to them. Today people don’t hear from God, they act/move anyway. Wait until you hear from God, before you plan, or your plan will be a failure.
B. They waited for three days. We don’t want to wait 3 seconds. Sometimes, Yahweh is having us wait, in order to prepare to cross our Jordans and learn to depend solely on Him.
II. They Dedicated Themselves to the Lord vs. 3-7
II. They Dedicated Themselves to the Lord vs. 3-7
A. The Ark of the Covenant was a picture of Yahweh’s presence. This was in essence showing that they were following God not man.
B. To dedicate or consecrate meant to purify oneself. In order to follow Yahweh, we must repent. Heb. 12:1-2
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
C. Yahweh, said that He would begin to exalt Joshua, if Joshua, would follow Yahweh closely, this was only the beginning. Let Yahweh exalt you. I Pet. 5:6
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
III. They Followed the Lord Faithfully vs. 8-17
III. They Followed the Lord Faithfully vs. 8-17
A. The victory could only be won, by following Yahweh the living God.
B. The priest dipped their feet in the Jordan. This shows a baby step of faith! Before, you can dive in you’ve got to take baby steps.
C. The river dammed up 30 miles downstream. Yahweh is working in our lives, and we don’t see it until later. (Zarethan-30 miles away).
D. 40 years ago they could have crossed over the Jordan, but they didn’t believe. This generation, however was paying attention, when Yahweh spoke… and they followed faithfully.
