Walking in Unity

TRINITY—a word not found in Scripture, but used to express the doctrine of the unity of God as subsisting in three distinct Persons...The propositions involved in the doctrine are these: 1. That God is one, and that there is but one God (Deut. 6:4; 1 Kings 8:60; Isa. 44:6; Mark 12:29, 32; John 10:30). 2. That the Father is a distinct divine Person, distinct from the Son and the Holy Spirit. 3. That Jesus Christ is truly God, and yet is a Person distinct from the Father and the Holy Spirit. 4. That the Holy Spirit is also a distinct divine Person.
M. G. Easton, Illustrated Bible Dictionary and Treasury of Biblical History, Biography, Geography, Doctrine, and Literature
A good way to describe the Trinity is to describe it as Triunity. Jesus is part of the Trinity. Jesus claimed to be equal with God the Father and this was blasphemy to the Jews, and they wanted Him dead for saying it. They wanted to end this “false” teacher. Jesus was claiming God to be his father in such a way that he declared equality with God. When people are uncomfortable with the truth they sometimes try to convince themselves and others that it is a false teaching.
We know Jesus was stating truth. Over the next little bit we are going to look at some characteristics of the Trinity we see evident in this statement from God the Son.
The Trinity will not act contradictory to one another. The Trinity is one in will.
The Trinity will not do like your parents do sometimes and tell you two different answers. Or be like go ask the other parent.
God the Father speaks the will, God the Son reveals the will and makes it possible for us to follow it, and God the Spirit gives us guidance and strength in living that will out.
We should follow suit and walk in unity as the Trinity does.
How do we walk in one spiritual accord?
We stay in the word. If we stay in the word we will find it easier to walk godly and set a strong example of what a true Christian looks like. Hold one another accountable. When you see one another acting ungodly politely pull one another to the side and point out Biblical what is wrong. Don’t bash one another. Come together and help people.
To not acting contrary to one another is acting in unison.
As we see in the life of Jesus part of this acting in unison is to bring life to the dead.
What was the purpose of Jesus becoming a man on this earth? To die for our sins so that we may go from being dead to alive.
God the Father speak the plan of life and grant life, God the Son carries out the plan and grants life, and God the Spirit blesses the life of those who accept.
We got a choice on rather or not we accept spiritual life, but their is judgment on what decision you make.
The Trinity carries out judgment. God the Father has set the law and consequences, God the Son carries out the judgment, and the Holy Spirit convicts and warns of the judgement
We all have a role. Unity exist when we all choose to commit to our role. Does not mean you are not capable of doing a role, but you choose to commit to the role God has called you.
Seek for how God has called you to serve within the body of Christ and serve faithfully in that role.
Just because I am a preacher it does not make me any better than you.
How do we get this life? by believing what God says and hearing what God the son says. That is we must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and believe. Romans 10:9 states:
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
What does Savior mean? Someone who saves you. If you are a Christian what have you been saved from?
What does Lord mean? Oxford defines it as: “someone or something having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler”. So this means you submit your life to the power, authority, and influence of Jesus. Power: Do yo depend on Christ for strength to live right? Authority: Do you look to Christ for the approval of all your actions? Influence: Does the words of Christ transform your life.
Do you believe Jesus has the power to save? Do you believe in Jesus enough you are willing to dedicate your all to Him, not just a small corner of your brain?
If you do not accept Christ as your savior a “resurrection of judgment” is awaiting you. You have dishonored God and will face the wrath of God for all eternity if you do not turn to Christ.

Bearing Witness

Does the Trinity need anyone to bear witness of Him. No. But what shows the magnificence and glory of God is he bears witness to himself according to His standards even according to His standards. Deuteronomy 19:15
Deuteronomy 19:15 ESV
“A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established.
For a charge to be established God says two or three witnesses have to be present. The Trinity can be charged with no wrong, the only thing he can be charged with is righteousness. Each member of the Trinity has two to testify to who he is. Three to testify to the world who He is. God is self sufficient. He depends on no one. He needs no one to declare who he is.
God is fully sufficient to declare and witness His own glory.
Jesus in this passage tonight does testify to who He is, and list different sources, not for his benefit, but for our sake. He is fully capable of bearing witness to Himself.
He tells them of John and Moses bearing witness to Him. The Bible was written by 40 spirit filled men. That is 40 people right here bearing witness to who God is.
The Bible is to benefit and bless us.
Christ works bared testimony to who He is. The words we see spoke and miracles He performed testify to who Jesus is.
We should take note of this in our lives.
Works in our life should testify to Jesus and the change He has brought about in us.
James 2:22 tells us
James 2:22 ESV
You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;
Our works testify of our belief. If you truly believe something, it will be evident in your actions. When someone truly believes in something they carry themselves with more confidence. You can tell when someone doesn’t truly believe in something because they lack confidence. Walk in confidence in Jesus.
Galatians 5:22-23 should be evident in our lives (we will do a series this summer on each fruit).
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Does your life point to the goodness of God?
