Renewed Identity
Do not buy the lie that you cannot walk out the identity of Christ in your life.
Who is telling you that you cannot walk out the righteousness of Christ in your life daily?
So, if these be true, then it is indeed Mission Possible for you to not lie, steal, cheat, deceive, gossip, lust or cuss.
Who here, when you stand before Christ, want to ensure that you do not let one slip out of your mouth and have to look at the Christ and say, oops.

When you accepted Christ you were given a new identity.
And in that renewed identity, you were given the permission and the power to live in the righteousness of Christ.
When you get in your car, you need fuel to get to a destination.
Your driver’s license gives you permission to drive that car, but the gasoline gives you the momentum.
(Pass out envelopes with the following text on index cards and a $5.00 bill to all with a driver’s license or permit.)
Like gas in your car, you need fuel for your soul and spirit.
You need the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to really get anywhere.
The fifth Hebrew letter ָָה Hey, is a pictograph of a man with his hands raised beholding the glory of God.
Represents the Divine breath and revelation of God (Ps.
33:6).
Five in Hebrew is the word Chamesh[f.],
chameeshah [m.] Power, strength, alertness (wake-up!),
Torah, grace, ministry, service, gospel, fruitfulness, going forth, fast movement, anointed, prayers, and protection.
The holy anointing oil had five ingredients: four spices mixed with olive oil.
(Ex.
30:23-25.)
The holy incense also had five ingredients: four spices mixed with salt.
(Ex.
30:34-35 – though tradition says there were eleven ingredients.)
We are empowered by the Word (Torah) and the Spirit.
All is given by God’s mercy and grace.
There are five Books of Torah (Moses/Law), the five-fold ministry (Eph.
4:11), David’s 5 smooth stones, fruit from trees is fit to eat in the fifth year.
On day five of creation, the birds and fish were created.
They move fast and carry seed throughout the whole earth in their migrations.
Like them, we are anointed and filled with the Spirit to carry God’s Seed, the Gospel throughout the earth.
These creatures move in unity.
Your drivers license represents your identity and the permission given you, to drive that car.
In Christ, He must be the source that gives you the relational permission and the Holy Spirit power to live and move in the fulness of His identity within you.
I hear people tell me they have had seasons in their lives where they are trying to find themselves.
Even Christians have said, I need to find my identity in Christ.
I have even made this comment to others about finding their identity in Christ.
But, the truth of the matter is, our identity is to be Christ alone.
The identity of “self” must be crucified and buried and we are to be resurrected in Christ.
I am not saying that you become the Christ incarnate.
Neither is the Apostle Paul.
He is talking about taking on the nature of the Christ and living in His righteousness every moment.
Quit looking for your identity in Him and embrace His identity in you.
When you truly embrace the righteousness of Christ and live it, the work of God in your life continues long after you have left this earth.
Unlike his mentor Elijah, Elisha was not taken up in a whirlwind.
Instead, he was buried in a grave.
But God has a purpose even in this.
When this dead man touched the bones of Elisha, there was no miraculous inherent power in the bones.
This was a miraculous act of God.
The real question is why would God do this?
The answer is in the context of the text.
Israel was continuously under attack.
This was a sign from God of great generational mercy for Israel as revealed in honoring the sovereign assignment of the prophet to lead God’s Bride back to Himself.
Israel was not dead to God nor God dead to Israel.
It is interesting that this happened in the spring of the year.
It is in the spring that God has designed new life to come forth.
We are all in a place of longing for the spring to arrive.
Notice that as they were burying this Israelite, the Moabites began to raid the area.
So, in fear, they quickly threw his body into the grave and he immediately jumped to his feet.
The word “revive” here is haya חָיָה (khaw-yaw') meaning to live, have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously, live for ever, be quickened, be alive, be restored to life or health.
We see a similar context in Ezekiel 37:5.
The word comes from a primitive root hava חָוָה (khaw-vah) meaning to tell, declare, show, make known.
This word has a parent root חֲוָא (khav-aw) meaning to show, interpret, explain, inform, tell, declare.
In this brief illustration that God gives to Israel, He offers them hope and renewal.
He exclaims to them a prophetic call to respond to His mercies and live in covenant with Him again.
God is calling them to revival in the midst of their attacks.
That same prophetic voice is calling to each of us today.
He is calling us to tell and declare His glorious works.
He is seeking to show Himself mighty in the midst of your mess.
