“SEED NEEDS” -Part 1.
“SEED NEEDS” -Part 1.
Luke 8:9-15 “9 And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant, 10 he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. 14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. 15 As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.”
Last week we read the same story but in a different account in Mark 4.
Where have we come so far in this series: YIELD.
Which can mean two things: To bring forth a YIELD, a RETURN, A Crop, To Draw out what itys intended USE |IS.
But Also: To Yield TO. to Submit, to Yield.
PArt 1 Yield.
Part 2 last week: power plant, the importance of being planted three ways in JESUS; in His House, In His People, In His Word.
And Today: I want to talk about what a SEED NEEDS:
YIELDING TO THE DIRT. WHAT DOES THE SOIL REPRESENT. IT REPRESENTS CREATION AND THE LIFE THAT YOU AND I ARE GIVEN INTO TO.
YIELD MEANS TO SUMBIT TO, TO GIVE UP & IN TO. TO ACCEPT.
Yielding Seed Means There is DIRT Required at some point:
Let me ask you a HEART Q: ARE YOU RESISTING THE DIRT?
The hard stuff. the messy things?
Because i want to submit to you today that its in the DIRT, THE SOIL, which is WHERE this GLORIOUS NEW Life comes in. Its where GOD does his BEST WORK in our LIVES.
What does a SEED need to survive.
Well first it needs SOIL.....DIRT.
it needs rich soil.
it needs to planted in SOIL.
and thats what the bible says that WE need.
To be planted in GOOD soil and OUT from That GOD GROWS our lives.
without the SOIL. The SEED Wont SURVIVE.
Seeds cant survive without dirt. without SOIL≥
THE SOIL IS VITAL IN THE PROCESS OF SEEING A YIELD COME FORTH IN OUR LIVES.
SOIL IS OUR LIVES, OUR BEING PLANTED IN JESUS CHURCH & COMMUNITY.
A few things about the SOIL: these are parallels to our spiritual lives
1.Soil is messy. sometimes, often times being planted isn’t pretty. its NOT meant to be. We need to understand what a bit of GRIT and Determination can do.What can it do? it can change the way a seed develops.
Beautiful Gardens are beautiful to us above the surface. But below the surface is where the vitality comes from. Dont AVOID messy. Embrace it.
2.It needs to be tilled. needs to be worked....When you AIRATE a field you allow oxygen. it brings a HELPFUL change to the surface that gets the SOIL ready to recieve the SEED. thats why we pray before we recieve the WORD of God. the seed is HIM. the Soil is our HEARTS.
**LAWN TIME AGAIN: There’s a process that can work with a GOOD Lawn called “AERATION”
“Grass roots need air, water and nutrients to grow thick, deep and strong. When soil becomes compacted, even slightly, it inhibits the flow of the essentials that support thicker, healthier turf growth. A layer of compacted soil just 1/4 to 1/2 inches thick can make a significant difference in the health and beauty of your lawn.....Aeration creates holes down into the soil to alleviate compaction so air, water and nutrients can reach the grass roots.
Deprived of their basic needs by compacted soil, lawn grasses struggle in stressful situations, such as heat and low rainfall, and lose their healthy, rich color. Grasses gradually thin and eventually die out completely, for lack of the oxygen, water and nutrients available just inches away. Even a single aeration session can open the avenue for these essentials to reach their mark and put your lawn back on an upward trend.
How is the SOIL?
Whats the condition like?
Maybe the SOIL in your life needs some work
a Bit of CHANGING IT UP. Freshening it. up≥
Which leads to POINT 3.
3.The best soil, is SOFT Soil:
the better the soil, the better it is for the seed:
AERATION IS A GOOD THING TO KEEP THE SOIL GOOD.
TO KEEP THE SOIL LESS COMPACTED & SOFT.
Sometimes the SOIL of our lives can get a it compacted. Can We need to revisit this from time to time. and this time of YEAR is a GREAT time to do it. BEFORE summer HITS> Before Fall Harvest.
*AVOIDING ISSUES LEADS TO A HARD COMPACTED LIFE*
What are some things that compact: 3 easy things to look out for > these are like weeds that you can see on the surface. they are the INDICATORS that there is SOIL contamination. That there is NEED for some WORK.
*Unaddressed HIDDEN SIN. If there is a dark place of sin. a constant coming back to a sin thats hidden from everyone. its like a dirty little secret. Thats hard ground. It needs to be taken care of. Sin is a killer to the CHRISTIAN life. But Repentance leads to LIFE>
*Constant Negativity. Whats the prevailing tone in your home and your life? are you a GENERALLY speaking POSITIVE or NEGATIVE person. If you are a CONSTANTLY negative person then something is going on in our heart and needs to be dealt with. Christians are supposed to be GLASS HALF FULL People (most of the time).
*Unaddressed Bitterness & Resentment. Towards others. are you resentful of others. are you bitter at people? listen to me: it affects your soil quality, which affects what happens to the seed, which means life isn’t flowing through you LIKE IT SHOULD> and IT DOES AFFECT THE YIELD.
The plant used describe bitterness and sorrow in the bible is WORMWOOD.
which was a plant in ancient times in Israel and surrounding areas was a HARSH and tough plant. Found in DRY and DESOLATE areas. it appeared to be good, but it really wasn’t.
The Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary Wormwood
The wormwood plant, known for its extremely bitter taste, is eaten by goats and camels, and its leaves are dried and steeped by Bedouins to make a strong aromatic tea. Wormwood has also been used widely in folk remedies, one of which is as a treatment for intestinal worms. This practice probably explains the popular name for the plant.
proverbs 5:3-4 “3 For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil, 4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.”
*Unforgiveness:
HOW TO KEEP PLANTED WITH A SOFT HEART: two things to remember.
Remember its GODS GARDEN: Its His FIELD. & its God who controls everything and brings the seed for sowing. some times we think its our efforts that bring in the seed. its not - its GOD. If you are lacking SEED. Trust GOD> if you HAVE seed. TRUST GOD. He BRINGS SEED TO THE SOWER
Parable of the Seed That Grows - The parable of the growing seed explains that the kingdom of God grows in a soul (and at large) because of God’s working, and people cannot explain it
isn’t it amazing when people cant explain what God is doing in your life?
its meant to be a mystery.
Because it HAS to be God who gets he GLORY.
being immersed in the kingdom of God is meant to BE MYSTERIOUS but PEACEFUL at the very same time.
Remember the Holy Spirit: He has a ROLE in all of this - But that is our CHOICE. He is the OXYGEN, the AERATION of our HEARTS. the HOLY Spirit, if empowered by us, can come into our hearts in the PRESENT moment and CHANGE our hearts, soften our hearts CONVICT our hearts!
He is the FRESH WIND<>
He is the FRESH BREATH.
John 3:8 “8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.””
Seeds NEED THE SOIL. BECAUSE GOD BRINGS LIFE THROUGH THE SOIL.
MINISTRY TIME: Lets ask the HOLY SPIRIT to TILL the LAND, the SOIL of OUR LIVES and HELP US ADDRESSTHE THINGS THAT MAKE THE SOIL COMPACT
