Mark 13:24-37

Theme: The Servant’s Eschatology
Key verse: v.9
37 verses; 828 words
Grade level: 6.3
1. The Course of this Dispensation. vs.1-13
2. The Correction of the Tribulation. vs.14-23
3. The Coming of the Saviour. vs.24-37
There are two WAYS that shows from this passage that the King is Coming.

I. The Results From The Word. vs.24-31

Calamity is coming. Vs.24-25
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
The Amillennialists and Preterists will go to Peter quoting Joel 2:30–31 in his Pentecost sermon (Acts 2:19–20) without ever telling you that nothing Joel said took place in Acts 2—including the Holy Spirit being poured out on “ALL flesh” (Acts 2:17).Christ is coming. Vs.26-31
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
The same cloud that covered Mt. Sinai will be this one.
The same cloud that came when God’s glory filled either the Tabernacle or Temple will be this one.
Jesus leaves the earth in this cloud (Acts 1:9) and will return in it as well (Acts 1:11) !
27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
his elect” is the elect people the Jews.
28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.
30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Given by Inspiration
2 Timothy 3:16 (AV)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Pure and Preserved
Psalm 12:6–7 (AV)
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Magnified above His name.
Psalm 138:2–4 (AV)
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.
There are two WAYS that shows from this passage that the King is Coming.
I. The Results From The Word. vs.24-31

II. The Reasons To Watch. vs.32-37

The knowledge of His time. V.32
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
No date setting allowed.
No date setting accepted.
The keeping of His trust. Vs.33-37
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
We are commanded three times to watch:
Watch for the Lord is always near. v.33
Watch for the time is always near. v.35
Watch for the King is coming. v.37
Conclusion:
What are you watching for?
Some are watching foolishness
Some are watching faithfulness.
You must watch faithfully!
