Jireh- Yireh- Provide
Genesis 22:8 “8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
In this passage we get to God as the provider! He’s called Jehovah Jireh! Did you know God is our provider? He allows us to know him as provider! Let’s learn from Abraham what God provides!
Abrahams Problem (22:1-2)
Abrahams Problem (22:1-2)
Genesis 22:1-2 “1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. 2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
He had to Kill his son
The son that God said he loved
His only son
The son he waited years on
He’d prayed and waited for this boy
he had plans for him, promises for him, purposes for him
& He was told it all must come to an end
Maybe you find(found)yourself in a similar situation?
The Trials Source
The Trials Source
The Trial came from God (22:1)
Genesis 22:1 “1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.”
It came from God!
God led him into this test
Satan tempts to destroy, God tests to build
Trials can come from God
James 1:12-15 “12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
IT WAS IN THE PROBLEMS THE ABRAHAM GOT TO KNOW GOD AS PROVIDER!
Abrahams Persistance (22:3-6)
Abrahams Persistance (22:3-6)
Genesis 22:3-6 “3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. 6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.”
Despite the pain and hurt Abraham obeyed and trusted! How? How could he still be obeying in such a trying time?
We’ll see the answer is faith!
He Started early, saddled, rose, took, cut wood
He did all that he did by faith!
Did he know perfectly what was happening? NO! He just trusted God and what he said!
HE just trusted God. Walked by faith not by what he could see! Hebrews 11:17-19 “17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: 19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
You see he had faith that those promises the God had made he would keep!
He said he and the boy would return
& faith pleases God
Hebrews 11:6 “6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
His faith in God’s plan and power then let him see God’s provision!
It may seem difficult to obey ,trust, worship but BY FAITH you can & God will provide!
Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.”
God can give us strength to things we could never do by faith!
Abrahams Provision (22:6-14)
Abrahams Provision (22:6-14)
Abrahams faith granted him provision from God!
God Provided that sacrifice!
Genesis 22:13 “13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.”
See Abraham knew and trusted that God had something prepared!
God provided comfort for his trial
GOD PROVIDED THAT LAMB!
Abraham Got to see something
Look what Jesus said about Abraham
John 8:56 “56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.”
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
HE SAW JESUS & HIS SACRIFICE!
Jesus the lamb!- John 1:29 “29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
You see just like that ram died for Issac Jesus died for everyone!
Hebrews 2:9 “9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”
God PROVIDED!
Mount Calvary was close to that spot!
Our God is still Jehovah-Jireh! He still provides!
Romans 8:32 “32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
He gave you Jesus and he will always get you what you need
Can can meet your needs! He still is in the providing business! HAVE FAITH!
