Titus 2:7–8 KJV 1900
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
The people on the Island of Crete where Titus was teaching at had proclaimed Jesus Christ as their savior.
Yet, they seemed to not want to depart from the sinful life they once lived.
So Paul tells Titus an encouragement that I imagine he wants him to pass on to the people.
In all that you do show yourself as a pattern of good works and sincerity.
As we prepare today to do the Lord’s work I want to encourage us to not do anything that would be done out of jealousy, selfishness, bitterness, or any other negative quality in which is sent from the devil.
As has been taught here this morning, we must have Jesus as Lord.
If we truly want to have Jesus as our Lord then we must carry our life about in such a manner.
That as Paul taught, let us show a pattern of good works, let us be sincere, let us be people of integrity and dignity.
I fear that at times many come into such settings and act as anything other than a Christian.
But today I want to encourage us to act in the manner of Christ and to carry a Christ like dimension in all of our actions.
Through what we do here today and when we depart let us show that Jesus is Lord of our life.
Let us not speak, unless he has ordained, but let our speech be bold when He has.
And as Titus 2:8 speaks, “let us have no evil thing to say, let us carry the same character as our Lord.
