We Don’t deserve anything

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
and I don’t think it’s controversial to say that perhaps we’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,(even Ellie, especially Ellie)
So because we have sinned we all deserve at least a brutal painful death. Like anything bad that happens to us we deserve. And our current status of living and breathing is an act of immeasurable grace by God and its given to us in spite of who we are and any decision we make. With that in mind this week whenever things go wrong or someone is a jerk lets remember that we “deserve” to be dead right now and even the faith that we have and the blessings of that faith stem from God first and in spite of us,
2 Thessalonians 2:13–17 ESV
But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
So even though we deserve death God has given us Grace and Mercy, not so that we can continue in sin and unforgiveness, but so that we can go out in faith and do good works not for our own glory but for the glory of the God who saved us. Let’s Pray.
Father God I pray right now that this week you pour your love and mercy out on us so that we overflow with your peace, that as things go wrong and we feel the consequences of this fallen world that yet still we can rely on you and your peace. That we will be comforted by the knowledge that we deserve everything that goes wrong and that we can rejoice in the good that you allow to happen this week. Lord we ask that you allow us to show the peace that only you can provide to any and everyone we meet this week. From you through you and to you go all the glory and we praise you for allowing us to participate in honoring you and we cant wait to do it for all of eternity. Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever amen.
