Intro

How many people in here are Married?
How Many of you are dating?
How many of you want to be dating?
How Many of you want to some day be married?
This is actually a huge question and I remember when In was in Jr. High I didnt think to much about these things
I think more and more it is something that is hyper focused on
Really maybe the focus is more on what type of person you want to date or marry
And thats why we must talk about it
We need to talk about what the Bible says about our realtionship with our significant other
And the fact is the Bible has a lot to say about this issue
We wont get into all of it because most of you in here are a while from actually having that relationship
BUT you can be preparing for that

Read Genesis 2:18-24

If you all remember a few weeks ago when I started this mini series in our larger series
I said I would come back to this point
This companionship is necessary for us as human
God saw that everything was Good Except for man being alone
So he fixes that problem
And if you remember I said this problem of need of companion is not something solved by animals
Believe it or not mans best friend is not a dog
Especially not cats
Mans best friend will be, is designed to be , fellow man
Just as God himself is not alone but has fellowship
So Man needs comapanions
We have some of these companions through normal friendships
I have had many good guy friends in my life
To this day I have some friends who are very close to me
BUT NO ONE IS CLOSER TO ME THEN ELISE
We have have been designed for companionship with each other
But more specifically we were designed for companionship with our spouse
Look at Genesis 2:22
Genesis 2:22–23 ESV
22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
This is at last what I needed
Woman!!!!!!
This is the companion the one designed for me a helper
This was the intended design for this relationship
And God makes that point clear
Read Genesis 2:24
Genesis 2:24 ESV
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
For this relationship a man will leave his closest relationships as we have looked at these past couple weeks and he will form a new bond
A bond so strong that the two will become one
They will be so close that they will be indistiguishable from one another

I want to take a quick moment and adress culture here
When we talk about the wisdom that comes from the Bible
When we say that following this word is the key to a life well lived
We must look at the words said and hold those to be true
Even in the face of fierce opposition
The question has never changed a few verses later we see the serpent come on the scene and ask did God really say
Culture asks the same thing
Did God really say that a man and a women or did God really mean that
Yes thats what he said thats what he intended
Our closest earthly relationship
The only relationship that trumps all others here on earth is this relationship with our spuse
The order of importance for a life well lived is this
Our relationship to God
Our relationship to our spouse
Other relationships
This may not be the order for you yet but it will be some day
The bible is full of advice for how to act in that marriage relationship
Ephesians 5.
1 Peter 3.
Proverbs all over the place
Nagging wife
The wife is the crown of her husband
