Genesis 49:27 KJV 1900
Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil.
Deuteronomy 33:12 KJV 1900
And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; And the Lord shall cover him all the day long, And he shall dwell between his shoulders.
Introduction.
Bro. Joe Reynolds will be here this Sunday morning, Bro. Stuart Sunday afternoon. Joel on Wednesday night. We’re giving Alan a break and taking my kids to camp and on spring break.
Bro. Matthew McGeary will be with us April 9-10.
Whatever you are naturally today is a result of two things: The Nature passed to you from your parents and the environment or nurture you were raised in.
(Five sons in the Navy)
Nature is what is passed on to you in your genes, nurture is how you were raised and the environment you were born into and raised with, even down to the season you were born and the sign you were born under. That is why we must be born again.
The nature we have comes from Adam, and in Adam all die. There is no remedy for this “body of death” but the Holy Ghost.
1 Peter 1:23 KJV 1900
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
We do not treat sin with psychology, we are born again into a new family with a new nature. However, we do retain the “sticky nature” on the outside, and we must constantly keep under guard and yield our members to Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV 1900
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV 1900
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Bro. Branham taught that we are an “outward man which is controlled by five senses;” and an “inward man controlled by one sense which is faith.” “one is contrary to the other.” “So long as the five senses agree with the faith, wonderful; but when the five senses disagree with faith, we should leave the five senses alone.”
29 Now, for instance here, Jesus made a statement, a promise. The inside man says that’s true; the outside man reasons that it can’t be true to you, then ignore the outside man and accept the inside man. Now, that’s the same thing that Paul is speaking of. He was sold under the law to carnal sin. Every one of us is the same.
That’s the reason we are…have the troubles we do, of married four or five times, and this, and that, and the…all kinds of sin, and adulteries, and everything else along in our lives, is because of those things.
We are carnal, and that part must perish; but then, inside, we are a spirit man, soul inside, and that’s faith in God’s Word; then we bring our outside body under subjection to the Word by faith, by accepting what God said.
How can I take a cocklebur and make a grain of wheat out of it? It’s impossible for me to do it. The only way it can be is because inside that cocklebur has been transmitted from a cocklebur to a germ called “wheat life.”
Then you bury that cocklebur, and it’ll produce a grain of wheat, because there has been a life of wheat put in the cocklebur.
And the life of the cocklebur has been taken out; but the nature of the cocklebur is still sticky, and it will be until this new life has fully been developed out of the ground and raised up again.
31 And as long as you’re in this life, you’re going to be sticky and have a carnal nature that’s going to bother you as long as you live; but the inside of you, you’re borned again. And when you’re raised up, you’re in the likeness of Christ and all the sin has gone from you. 64-0830E - Questions And Answers #4
There is a reason for your behavior but not an excuse.
Romans 6:12 KJV 1900
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Bro. Branham likens it to the New Heavens and New Earth:
274 Heavens and earth have met; God and man is reconciled. A restored Eden has begun; see, all the curse is gone.
275 Just like, all the curse of sin is gone when the Holy Ghost accepts you. See, you don’t accept It; It accepts you, see, ’cause It’s God’s attribute. If It’s the Holy Ghost, means, God’s Spirit; and it’s the attribute, the thought of God, has accepted you because that you were ordained for that purpose.
Yet, you was born in sin; but God had that attribute, and here you expressed yourself here on earth, and He comes down and gets you. See, you’re back here; here is where you belong. Sin has lost its power.
That’s right. The desire of sin has done gone from your heart, when the Holy Spirit comes in. You are a restored person. 64-0802 - The Future Home Of The Heavenly Bridegroom And The Earthly Bride
208 That’s where the outside can reason. You take a man, say, “Well, you know, I know I’m not supposed to commit adultery. But, you know, then the spirit tells me I shouldn’t commit adultery. But, you see, way down in there is still that thing in there.” See, it’ll kinda govern around, and better watch it.
209 But when it’s directed from the inside, it throws all the rest of it together. That’s the guidepost. That’s the control tower, the inside of the inside. The soul controls the spirit, the spirit controls the body. 65-1126 - Works Is Faith Expressed
71 But, look! When this body receives the Spirit of God, the immortal Life inside of you, it throws this body in subjection to God. Hallelujah! “He that’s born of God doth not commit sin; he cannot sin.”
Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus; they walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” There you are. See, that throws your body subject.
You don’t have to say, “Oh, if I could just quit drinking! If I could just…” Just get in Christ, and it’s all gone, because your body is subject to the Spirit. It’s no more subject to the things of the world; they’re dead.
They are dead; your sins are buried in baptism, and you are a new creation in Christ. And your body, becoming subject to the Spirit, try to live a right kind of life. 65-0221E - Who Is This Melchisedec?
You still have to overcome.
Galatians 5:16 KJV 1900
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
The tribe of Benjamin is an interesting study because of it’s extremes.
Famous Benjamites:
Ehud
Saul
Mordecai and Esther
Paul
How does Benjamin become a ravening wolf?
How does Benjamin go from a Ravening Wolf to a protector of Jehovah?
Favoritism in the Family
Benjamin is born of Godly parents, but there was trouble in the home. Jacob and Rachel were sweethearts, but because polygamy was legal at the time and as payment for Jacob’s shyster ways Laban had deceived him into marrying Leah first.
Genesis 29:16–17 KJV 1900
And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
Leah’s eyes were dull, she was plain. Rachel had a beautiful face and form.
Genesis 29:30–31 KJV 1900
And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years. And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.
By showing favoritism in the home Jacob is repeating the mistake of his father Isaac. He should have known better, but family genes are strong, especially the weak ones.
Genesis 25:28 KJV 1900
And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Its difficult for mothers not to show favoritism towards weak children and for fathers not to show favoritism towards talented children. Be careful, you might scar generations.
We are responsible for each one of our children, not just the ones we like.
Proverbs 22:6 KJV 1900
Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Train = dedicate

Ḥānaḵ seems to include the idea of setting aside, narrowing, or hedging in. The word is sometimes used in the sense of “start.” Child-training involves “narrowing” a child’s conduct away from evil and toward godliness and starting him in the right direction.

Way= manner custom behavior
The idea is “according to his bent”
Tie the tree to a stake to make it go straight when it is young.
Use the wood the way it is bent.
Ephesians 6:4 KJV 1900
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
38 Oh! Your family is what you are. You raise your child in a certain environment; it’s got a ninety-eight percent better chance to go right than it has if you bring it up in the wrong way.
“Bring up a child in the way that it should go, and when it’s old, will not depart from it.” Be brought up right. Teach your children to do right, to be honest, to be square and fair, even when they’re in school.    62-1013 - The Influence Of Another
50 Now, look at this little story right here. Read between the lines (I love it, don’t you?), between the lines. Why, look at these little children going out and making fun of this preacher that was baldheaded. Look what they said to him: “Go up, thou bald head, like Elijah, won’t you?” They didn’t believe that Elijah went up, they doubted it.
51 Their priests and them had told them, perhaps, “Oh, he didn’t go up. It’s just some fanaticism. And that guy’s supposed to be anointed with the same anointing that he was anointed. Oh, it’s nonsense. Tell him to go up.”
52 And here went the little kids. “Bring up a child in the way that it should go.” And here they went down because the parents didn’t believe it.
53 And how can you expect your children to go to Sunday school and serve the Lord, when you, yourself, don’t even go?
How can you expect your children to be something when you’re nothing? That’s a little sassy, but I don’t mean it that way; but He had me to say it, so I…This is not premeditated.
All right. But that’s…I didn’t mean you wasn’t nothing, but I mean when you know that you make no profession. How can you expect your children to be righteous when you’re putting such an example before them?
How can you do it? You’re the best example that they have. They’re going to look to you when they look…won’t look for no one else, because your nature is in them.
54 Like Satan, he knows a whole lot about human beings. He said to God, to Job, he said, “What would a man give for his skin?” Sure. He knows something about human nature.
He helped pervert it. He knows…He had a hand in it. He knows a whole lot about it, and he still knows how to…what to do to cause people to fall. He knows human nature.
57 He knows human nature. He knows how to catch you in it, too. And he’s awake day and night, going about like a roaring lion devouring what he will. Certainly, he is. So there he knew just how to do that.
58 But God turned around, and in Elisha, he cursed those children, and forty-two of them was killed by bears that run out of the woods and killed forty-two of the children, because they were disobedient,
and had been raised in the wrong kind of a home, and the wrong schooling, to make fun of God’s prophet in the stead of respecting God’s prophet. I tell you, as you respect God’s servants, you respect God. As you respect Christ, you respect God. 56-1002E - Elisha The Prophet
Isaac was raised as an only child, (others were born later and Ishmael was expelled), Jacob was his mothers favorite, Benjamin and Joseph were Jacob’s favorites.
Look how the good and bad from Abraham came right down through the family line.
Genesis 18:17 KJV 1900
And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
Genesis 18:18 KJV 1900
Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
Genesis 18:19 KJV 1900
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
The same Abraham backslid in Egypt, and Isaac did the same thing.
Benjamin is born when Jacob is backslid, after he has just had a great experience with God, but he journeyed away from Bethel.
When it comes to Spiritual things the end never justifies the means. Do the right thing in the right way.
Every time Abraham left Caanan he had a good excuse, every time Jacob left Bethel he had a good excuse. When Naomi’s husband left Israel he had a good excuse, but it still resulted in the loss of his sons.
Jacob was always backsliding, because He did not have the Holy Ghost. He tried to break the curse through the arm of flesh and that never works. It takes Joseph, a type of Christ, to break the cycle. He becomes the Prince of Egypt, a type of sin, and overcomes sin in Egypt.
Romans 7:21–25 KJV 1900
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans 8:1–4 KJV 1900
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Conclusion.

Paul would know, he was a Benjamite, but he became a Christian, and that made all the difference.
