Demonstrated love by what you say and do

1 John 3:17 (NKJV) 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

Gods Love/Presence in you Activates Love For Your Neighbour

Illustration- Im not naturally. But the love of God that I have experienced has been at work transforming me. I cant do that in my own strength it has been a work of His love in me.

Selfishness is deeply intrenched in our carnal nature-

Love Demonstrated Is Evidence “How does the love of God abide in him?”

Last Days- 2 Timothy 3:1–5 (NKJV) 3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Who Is My Neighbour?

Luke 10:29–37 (NKJV)29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Neighbour- first used in scripture to describe someone of different ethnicity and nationality. There was no definition given in mosiac law about what neighbour meant .

Def. a nearby fellow human being

Jesus came to Fufill the Law - Bring Its Full Meaning- We are reading about a parable Jesus was using to give definititon to “Who is your Neighbour”

Man- Unclear his ethnicity or nationality

Half Dead- He could live, He could die- Critically Injured- Intensive Care

Priest- Gods Representative, Mediated between God & Man

Levite- Teacher, law expert

Both Saw-Both Passed By On The Otherside

Why?- No Explanation Why?- To Many To List? Busy, Didnt Want To Get Involved, He Was Unclean, Didnt Care???
