Back at Antioch

Paul is based out of the church in Antioch now. However, an issue arises and the Jerusalem Council is called which brings the primary leaders in the faith down to Jerusalem to discuss the matter. Before this next missions trip, Paul meets his soon to be beloved disciple Timothy. Paul, along with others, begin to travel and visit all of the churches he had just visited in the first trip but then decides to go to a new area that he has yet to travel to. He makes this decision based on a vision he has about a man in Macedonia in Acts

Where to Now?

Acts 16:9–12 ESV
And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. So, setting sail from Troas, we made a direct voyage to Samothrace, and the following day to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city some days.
Paul and the boys travelled back to Galatia and then went into territories surrounding Greece before heading back home to Antioch.
Paul meets his disciple Timothy before leaving on this trip

Why is This Significant?

1 and 2 Thessalonians were written during this trip.
Not only were churches and christianity spreading, the Holy Spirit was authoring Books for the rest of church history to grow from and learn from
Each Book deals with a lot but the major themes are perseverance through persecution and the second coming of Christ, since this church thought they had missed it.

What Does This Mean for Me?

It is important to be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
It is equally important to recognize when a prompting is from our own thoughts or from the Holy Spirit.
Scripture is our ultimate resource in discerning if it is our own wants or God’s
