Introduction
Today marks X days before Easter,
and I want us to began to turn our hearts to the most significant event in Bible and human history.
When the Messiah, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for our sins, and then rose from the dead … victorious over sin and death for all who believe.
The Gospels give us an incredible story …
about our Savior dying on the cross … to save wretched man.
But I want to make sure we know that was not an accident.
God didn’t wake up,
and go … oh no … I let my son die on the cross.
Psalm 121 teaches us that -
Psalm 121:8 ESV
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
How much more so - do believe that God kept the coming and going of His son.
He may have been sentenced to death by
Pilate
Herod
The High Priest
and the Crowd.
But none of it was by accident or a surprise to God.
And the question you as believer,
should always be asking your Pastor or Chaplain …
How do you know that?
And I will tell you - because of Mark 8:31.
So we can understand the context, we will read Mark 8:27-31
Mark 8:27–31 ESV
And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him. And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.
As we prepare for Easter,
I challenge you to

Hope in the cross because the cross was planned, necessary, suffering and victory of Christ.

Why should we
Intentional
Necessary
Suffering
Victorious
