Personal story
Have you ever been in a situation where your breath has been taken away from you?
Examples in life was when I thought I had my son Gideon with me when if fact I did not. He had gone to common ground with my sister and her family. As we were getting ready to leave I had made sure that all my kids where with us, but I never looked back to make sure no one went back to play. Of course my child Gideon saw a school friend and took off. All my kids wanted to ride in my sister car on the way to the park so it was no different coming home. I got in my car first and took off as my sister was waiting for all the kids to get in the car. When she did not see Gideon she thought he was with me since I had already left. Well when my sister gets home and I see that Gideon is no were to be found. I was told he was not with them. I realized right away my son was left in the park. a panic attack was about to unfold. I know this because when I gave birth to Gideon I dealt with them for a good year. I told my self if you do not breath you will freeze and you will not be able to find your son. I mentally took a deep breath and screamed as loud as i could to clear my mind. As soon as I did that I called 911 got in my car with my dad and off we went to go get Gideon. My scream was so loud my neighbors new something had happened. Praise God he was in common ground and a cop got to him very quickly. Having Moments of Stress and difficulty are unavoidable…But what is your strategy.
A. GOD HAS GIVEN US HIS WORD, BUT WE MUST ALSO NOT FORGET THAT HE HAS GIVEN US IS BREATH OF LIFE.

Genesis 2:7

GOD formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive—a living soul!

Lets look into the science of power of the breath

When looking into the breath that the Lord has given us it is important to focus on the Nervous system. The part I am focusing on today is the autonomic nervous system. Auto here is referring to the unconscious things we are thinking about. We are going to brake it down some more to the Sympathetic and the Parasympathetic system. Sympathetic system is the gas pedal that tells us freak out it dangerous (flight or fight mode). The Parasympathetic system tells us to rest (rest and digest). I see this as the one that tells us to stay still for a moment and process.
When you take time to rest and digest. Breath properly you trigger the Vagus nerve which is the longest nerve we have in our body. It connects to basically everything in our body. Our brain, our heart, our lungs, our gut, and so much more.
So we might not often find your self losing a kid or a life or death situation.
but we might find our self in everyday life stressors. Un processed grieve, a big project, conflict at home or work ect…
these scenarios can have us holding our breath instead of breathing and digesting. we could be finding our self often on the flight or fight mode. we can stay there if we would like but God created us in a way that his literal breath of Life can help us move to a rest and digest moments.

John 20:22

In this passage the disciples are devastated they just lost Jesus! He has died. They were for sure no doubt in Flight or Fight mode. ALARM ALL IS LOST WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO!

19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

As A Health coach

I have seen that the majority of my clients are in flight or fight move. The first thing I guide my clients to see are the stressors my clients carry. Why? because often times we are so hard on our selfs that we carry a weight of negative outcomes, what if scenarios, and un resolved conflict with in our selfs or others. All these situations keep us from breathing like the Lord created us do so too.

Breath Is emphasized so much in the bible.

One way Breath in the bible is known as ruach “refers more to the psychological idea of breath by relating it to one’s own will or purpose.
God is the source of life
but when Jesus died he sent us his Holy Spirit. I am gone but a comforter will come.

To Be Breathless

not breathing
dead
panting or gasping for breath
gripped with emotion
oppressive because of no fresh air or breeze

To Breath

to draw air into and expel if from the lungs
to take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide through natural processes
to inhale and exhale freely
to pause and rest before continuing
to blow slowly
to feel free of restraint

Think on these things.

Philippians 4:8
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
This verse will be different for everyone. we can think of these verse, we can pray all day, but if we learn to connect our prayer and our God thoughts with our Vagus nerve we are actively renewing our mind. we are literally digesting God’s breath of life in your body, soul, and spirit.
maybe God has been given you a specific direction and you have been on stressed because you are fearful of the un known. If you would take a moment to tune in to what the Lord wants to show you. That direction will settle in your heart and you will give opportunity to tell your body to relax and bringing to death the things your are holding that are not benefiting you at this moment.
it does not take long its only a 1 to 2 minute breathing exercise. It takes practice why because when we are renewing our mind we begin to receiving the moment of peace the Lord wants to give us. . The re centering he will give us for the day. We can actively let the Lord gives us perspective of what is actually going on in our day. If we bring light to what we are thinking that is not servicing you.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Php 4:6–9.
The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language (Psalm 23)
23 GOD, my shepherd!I don’t need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from.True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction.

Hurt People Hurt People. I also say that we must make sure we are taking care of ourselves so that we can effectively be there for others. What does it serve a believer to safe the world and lose his soul. This verse has taken a deeper meaning for me. I have seen the benefits of a healthy mind, soul, and spirit brings. It takes time, self awareness, willingness for the Lord to speak to the areas of your life that our holding us back, and most importantly obedience to the Lord. You matter, Let me say that again you matter. Why? because the first thing God did was breath into your nostrils to give you life! Take time to breath Gods truth over you and take time to breath out all that the enemy is clouding your mind with. He created nerve and a way to trigger that nerve that will align your whole body to line up to the word of God. The word of God is his spirit his spirit is the breath of Life.

We must bring light to what is keeping us from breathing..

we must bring light to what we are thinking about unconsciously especially if it is affecting our nervous system. When we do this we must also give God time to speak to what we are experiencing. Breath in his word breath out the thoughts that are hindering you. Breath out the voice that the enemy has been circling you with that is not helping you live in peace. The situation might not change once you have taken a moment to rest and digest but breathing in the words of God will bring you what you need to breath out what you are holding on too.

PRACTICE THIS

breath in for a count of four and breath out for a count of 6
