Leah Eskamire

Welcome
Welcome
On behalf of the family I would like to thank you all for coming to celebrate the life of Leah Eskamire. We have gathered here to praise God and to witness to our faith as we celebrate her life. We come together in grief, acknowledging our human loss. May God grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.

Father God, I thank you for the life of Leah and I ask that your Spirit would surround the family as they continue to mourn their loss. I ask that you would comfort them in their pain. That you would give them hope in knowing that they will see Leah once more when it is their time to be called home. That you would give them strength by surrounding them with family member and friends who can help them during this time. I pray that they would find time in their mourning to remember all of the great times they had with Leah and that it would bring them comfort during this difficult time. I thank you for all those who have come today to glorify you and to celebrate the life of Leah. We give you all glory, honour, and praise. Amen

Dying, Christ destroyed our death. Rising, Christ restored our life. Christ will come again in glory. As in baptism Leah Eskamire put on Christ, so in Christ may Leah be clothed with glory. Here and now, dear friends, we are God’s children. What we shall be has not yet been revealed; but we know that when he appears, we shall be like Jesus, for we shall see him as he is. Those who have this hope purify themselves as Christ is pure.
I remember coming to Seymour and meeting Kenny and Leah. She was such a beautiful soul and she always greeted me so warmly. She would ask me about the kids and wanted to know all about what they were doing. She always cared about my family. In all of my conversations with her I can tell you with assurance that Leah had a faithful and growing relationship with God.
John 3:16 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Psalm 23 ESV
A Psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
She knew that simply believing in Jesus was not the only thing that God was calling her too. She knew that being a believer meant that God was the one directing her life. That God brought her to green pastures and still waters and that even when life was hard God was still with her. And Leah experienced so many hardships in her life. Her muscular dystrophy made it extremely difficult for her and her family at times. She lied down in green pastures but she also fully understood what it was to walk through the valley because she had to walk it many times. God used these struggles to mold and shape her.
James 1:2–4 ESV
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Leah struggled every single day, yet it never stole her joy in life. She continued to shine no matter how dark things may have been. She knew that no matter what happened in life that God was still good and that God was always with her. She had an unwavering faith.
2 Timothy 4:6–8 ESV
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
Philippians 3:13 ESV
13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
The greatest thing that God gave Leah was the love and joy that she had inside of her. Leah had so much love and joy inside of her that it flooded out and covered everything she came in contact with. Leah loved so much and it was evident that she belonged to Jesus because of this trait. Now she has passed on from this world and is glorifying God in heaven today. She has walked in front of God and been told, “Well done my faithful servant.” She is free of sorrow, pain, and sickness and she is worshiping at the feet of Jesus. It is okay to morn the loss of Leah but we should also celebrate because of the amazing life she lived and because of the gift she has received in heaven today. As we celebrate the life of Leah Eskamire. I would encourage you to come to know Jesus like she did, to allow God to lead you in life like she did, and to love all those you come across like she did. Honor her memory by doing these things. Let’s pray.
