1 John 4:7 NASB95
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
Turn your bible to
Let look at Ephesians 3:14-19
Ephesians 3:14–19 NASB95
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Now the first Chapter Paul some what (question) verse 18 and 19
What?
The hope of your calling The riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints (we will talk about a little this week) The exceeding greatness of his power to us who believe.
But in his second Prayer we see he prays some “that’s”
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, (prayer)
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
(that) may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge,
that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
EPH 3:20 Now
Ephesians 3:20 NASB95
20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,
This is interesting Because paul prayer here is that we understand it. Then he say that we Know the love of God that surpass know.
That we know something that we can’t comprehend.
Charles Wesley says
“God only know the love of God.” Then he cries out, “that he would shed it abroad in this poor stony heart.”
That is the work of the holy spirt
Romans 5:5 NASB95
5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
And as Psalm 100:5 says His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Psalm 100:5 NASB95
5 For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.
And one of the greatest things about his love is. It is inseparable.
Romans 8:38–39 NASB95
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I thank God that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God.
Now the questions become what is love?
I talk to a young man about 13yo and he told me Derrick you should meet my girl friend she is awesome man.
She is fine and I love her…….
What????
So then I ask him now son, what is love?
He said it like the bubbly feeling you get inside you belly.
I said no sir….
That is indigestion…..
You may need to go to the bathroom
Let look at 1 Cor 13:1-3
1 Corinthians 13:1–3 NASB95
1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
Now say pastor Derrick…. What is it????
I glad u ask me……..
15 things Love is…..
1. patient,
love is….
2. kind and
3. is not jealous;
4. love does not brag and is not arrogant,
5. does not act unbecomingly;
6. 6.it does not seek its own,
7. is not provoked,
8. does not take into account a wrong suffered,
9. does not rejoice in unrighteousness,
10. but rejoices with the truth;

13. hopes all things,
14. endures all things.
15. Love never fails
but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away
These are not feeling but action and expression….
Every emotion must be expressed….
God love is expressed thru giving
John 3:16 For God so loved he gave
John 3:16 NASB95
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Thru love we Prove that we are his.
John 13:35
John 13:35 NASB95
35 “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 John 3:14 NASB95
14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.
If you love me you love who I love.
1 John 4:20–21 NASB95
20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.
Love For God is express thru your for people.
God is love and he came to love thru serving
Love is God’s very nature; it is who he is and because he lives in us, love is what we should walk in. So in that we must love who and what Jesus loved.
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest (agapaō) thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love (phileō) thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest (agapaō) thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love (phileō) thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest (phileō) thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest (phileō) thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love (phileō) thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. (KJV) John 21:15-17
John 21:15–17 NASB95
15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep.
This text is very interesting because it does not just talk about the love that we should have for God but also the love that we should have for people and how these two correlate with each other.
Jesus asked Peter do you love me and his response to Peter’s answer was feed my sheep. Peter, if you love me you will love who I love. Peter, if you love me you will take care and feed who I love.
The other very interesting thing is the words being used for love. Jesus asks, “do you love me?” The Greek word for there is agapaō, which means, “to place supreme value upon.”
This is the God kind of love, the love that God has for his children. John 3:16 “For God so agapaō the world that he gave his only begotten son.” This is the love of God to his children and should be our love for him. So Jesus ask twice do you agapaō me and Peter responded both time that he phileō Jesus.
Now this word is the love that one has for a friend. I must stop and ask the question.
How do you Love Jesus? Do you love him with all your heart or do you just like him a lot?
So Jesus ask him a third time Simon do you love me? But this time Jesus use the word phileō and Peter cried you know all things and you know that I phileō you. So now why did Peter cry? Could be possible that there was so much condemnation on Peter because he had just denied the Christ that he did not believe that he could love God like God loved him? And it grieved him. It is a wonderful thing to think that even when we fall short and mess up (because even Disciples fall and mess up) that God still agapaōus.
This same love of God is express to the people of God.
Last place
2 Corinthians 5:14 NASB95
14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;
The love of God did not just come to me when I got save. Rather God Love draw me to him and change me.
I don’t sin because I don’t wanna make him mad. I don’t sin because am in love with him
And the same with people.
Love will not love you when you change it will love you till you change…..
Newspaper columnist and minister George Crane tells of a wife who came into his office full of hatred toward her husband. "I do not only want to get rid of him, I want to get even. Before I divorce him, I want to hurt him as much as he has me."
Dr. Crane suggested an ingenious plan. "Go home and act as if you really love your husband. Tell him how much he means to you. Praise him for every decent trait. Go out of your way to be as kind, considerate, and generous as possible. Spare no efforts to please him, to enjoy him. Make him believe you love him. After you've convinced him of your undying love and that you cannot live without him, then drop the bomb. Tell him that your're getting a divorce. That will really hurt him." With revenge in her eyes, she smiled and exclaimed, "Beautiful, beautiful. Will he ever be surprised!" And she did it with enthusiasm. Acting "as if." For two months she showed love, kindness, listening, giving, reinforcing, sharing. When she didn't return, Crane called. "Are you ready now to go through with the divorce?"
"Divorce?" she exclaimed. "Never! I discovered I really do love him." Her actions had changed her feelings. Motion resulted in emotion. The ability to love is established not so much by fervent promise as often repeated deeds.
