What is your Purpose
What is your Purpose
Purpose: the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1. We are created for relationship with God
1. We are created for relationship with God
It was not intended for people to be disconnected from God
God created us to be communicating with Him
How do we communicate to God?
Because of sin, it created a barrier between humans and man.
We choose to sin everyday
2. We are called to The Great Commission
2. We are called to The Great Commission
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Baptize
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Baptism is not necessary for salvation.
It is a public announcement of your salvation.
It is something the person who led them to the Lord should lead them to in their next steps as a Christian.
Disciple
Sharing the Gospel with our neighbor, community, country, and world.
Creating a community with local believers and sharpening each other
Iron sharpeneth iron;
So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Ambassador for Christ
Representing God well.
Showing the fruits of the Spirit from salvation.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
