THE WEEK THAT CHANGED THE WORLD BLE SSIN G AT BE THANY 1. _________________________________________ Like ______________________________ John 12:1 1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Galatians 2:20 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 2. ________________________________ Like ___________________________________ John 12:2 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus' honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Galatians 5:13 13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature ; rather, serve one another in love. Luke 10:38-40 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" 3. _____________________________ Like _______________________________________ John 12:3 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. Luke 10:41-42 41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." 1 John 4:24 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." Matthew 6:33 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 4. ________________________________________________________________________ Proverbs 4:23 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. John 12:4-8 4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages. " 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 "Leave her alone," Jesus replied. "It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me." Philippians 2:14 14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 5. ______________________________ with the ______________________________________________________ John 12:9-11 9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him. 2
