Redemption

Over the past few weeks we have addressed a number of foundational issue including; Sin, Salvation, Grace, and today I want to take a look at the process of redemption
Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
The Bible commands us in Psalms
Psalm 107:2 AMP
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary,
We see in this verse that redemption has something to do with deliverance!
The Greek word used in Ephesians is the word meaning to loose
While there are many different applications of the Word in Scripture, it always denotes something that was being held by a legal decree
In psalm 102 we read
Psalm 102:18–20 NLT
Let this be recorded for future generations, so that a people not yet born will praise the Lord. Tell them the Lord looked down from his heavenly sanctuary. He looked down to earth from heaven to hear the groans of the prisoners, to release those condemned to die.
Now, we know that the wages of sin is death
Romans 6:23 NLT
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
And that man was being held in deaths grip
Hebrews 2:14–15 NLT
Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
This one verse is the complete explanation as to why God needed to come in the flesh to redeem or release man from the curse of death!
No matter who you are, there is an in-ate fear of dying. Even this side of the cross the enemy tries to convince us that it all just a bad dream! But the truth is
1 Corinthians 15:55 NLT
O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
Because we have been redeemed, we now have ben set free from the curse of sin and death
Romans 8:1–2 NLT
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
So redemption is the process of “paying the cost” and freeing the item. In our case, mankind
but it is more than that!
Once the cost is paid, the redeemer must present the receipt to the present owner!
Yes the price was paid
Hebrews 10:19–20 NLT
And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.
1 Peter 1:18–19 NLT
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
but ownership is not official until a transfer of the deed
John 1:12 NLT
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
If I gave you a bank book today and it said that you have $1,000,000, it would be worthless until you go to the bank to withdrawal the funds!
The bank can not tell you that you can’t have the money! It is legally yours!
That is what most Christins miss about the Word of God!
They have the book but never withdraw the promises!
Yes God loves all men
2 Peter 3:9 NLT
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
That is why it is important that we share the good news!
God has made a way for everyone but not everyone will accept the way!
Isaiah 48:20 NLT
Yet even now, be free from your captivity! Leave Babylon and the Babylonians. Sing out this message! Shout it to the ends of the earth! The Lord has redeemed his servants, the people of Israel.
My friends, let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
Shout it from the mountain tops
Cry out in the wilderness that God is on the throne and Jesus Christ is Lord!
