Why does prophecy matter?

What is the meaning of “seventy weeks (sevens)”?

Westerns think in units of ten called decades.

Israelites think in units of seven called heptads.

The Sabbatical Year is based on seven years (Lev.

25:1-7)

The Israelites used a lunar calendar a lunar year is about 360 days.

In these six statements we have the sum of all the good things that God promised to humanity through Israel perfectly realized.

When was the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem?

Three Words:

Cyrus gave word to rebuild Temple 538 BC (Ezra 1:2-4).

Artaxerxes I gave word to Ezra for Jews to return and temple worship (Ezra 7:11-26).

Artaxerxes I gave word to Nehemiah 445 BC to rebuild Jerusalem (Neh 2:5-8)

The starting point of the prophecy would have begun on Nisan 1 (March 5), 444 BC, followed by 69 weeks of 360 day years or 173,880 days, and culminated on Nisan 10 (March 30), AD 33, the date of Jesus the Messiah’s triumphal entry (Lk 19:28–40)

Jesus the Messiah is Crucified He atones for sin.

Rome destroys Jerusalem and the temple 70 AD

A break in the Seventy Sevens - known as Times of the Gentiles.

Who is this “he”?

Makes a Covenant for seven years.

Breaks Covenant in 3 1/2 years.

Persecutes Israel for 3 1/2 years.

Jesus the Messiah brings his end.

God will accomplish his purpose.

Are you bearing witness to that and resting in it.
