today were going to press deeper into what we shared last week.
Last week we dealth with the ABC’s of how to receive healing?
if you missed it you can watch it at kway.tv

D Repent of sin
E Never give up.
Although many faith healers simply resort to “not enough faith”
and site verses like
Mark 6:5 NASB95
And He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
and retold
Matthew 13:58 NASB95
And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
“even Jesus couldn’t do miracles because of their unbelief.”
But notice He still was able to lay hands on a few sick people and heal them.
I agree faith needs to be present for healing. but as long as the faith is present in someone involved, healing can take place.
Miracles seem to prevented completely by lack of belief.
but healing can take place as long as someone believes.
So let’s be clear… faith is required
but evening having enough faith does not guarentee a healing will take place.
Their can be other things that hinder healing.
that’s what we want to get into today.
now please hear me.
If you are someone who has been seeking healing and have not yet received it.
I am not saying “there’s your problem”
rather I’m saying these are the things that can hinder healing.
seek Holy Spirit to reveal the foothold the enemy has on you.
What door has been opened that needs to be shut!
What stronghold has the enemy established that required to be broken down!
If you are battling one or more of these things, yes they can be hindering your healing.
deal with them openly and honestly, and that will create a pathway for God will to be fully realized in your life.
Let’s start with #1
this is #1 for a reason
in my experience this is the most common reason why healing is hindered.

1. Unforgiveness

Unforgiveness the cancer of the soul
it gives the enemy opportunity to prevent God’s will being done in your life
in place of God’s will it affords him opportunity to carry out his own.
Matthew 6:14–15 NASB95
“For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
The enemy knows this, and systematically attempts to distance people from God through this tool of unforgiveness
Mark 11:25 NASB95
“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.
CS Lewis said, “To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.”
How do you know you have forgiven someone?

2. Un-confessed Sin

John 9:31 NASB95
“We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.
Psalm 66:17–19 NASB95
I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear; But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
We commit sin specifically, we have to confess specifically.
Yes general prayers of fogiveness will grant forgiveness and gives you salvation
but still allow the enemy a foothold.
Ephesians 4:26–27 NASB95
Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.

3. Pride/false humility

James 4:6 NASB95
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
1 Peter 5:5 NASB95
You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
God is the healer and so if God is resisting or opposing you because of your pride can you see how that may be a real hindrance to your healing.
Often christians misinterprett pride for humilty
We may think we’re being humble when we’re actually robbing God of the glory He so much deserves
If you accept your sickness instead of the plan God has to heal, that’s rooted in pride!
Do you think God gets glory from our suffering?
John 9:3 NASB95
Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
God gets the glory from the healing

4. Feel undeserving of healing

Someone can feel they are not worthy of being healed.
They think their request is simply not important in all that God has to do. They believe they are not deserving of such a miracle.
No one can earn healing, it is God's gift just like the rest of his grace toward us.
But you can put yourself in position to be healed.
1 John 3:1–3 NASB95
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

5. Refusal to see Medicine as a Way God Heals

Prayer for healing and medical care should be pursued.
To think there is only one way of healing is to limit what God can do.
God may use another avenue for your healing.
Medicine can be the course God has for you to travel in your healing.
The Bible mentions various medical treatments, all of which are what we today would consider holistic.
Luke who was a physician penned a significant portion of the NT
Paul advised Timothy to use wine for stomach ailments
1 Timothy 5:23 NASB95
No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.
In those days wine was considered a medical treatment
People applied bandages to wounds
Isaiah 1:6 NASB95
From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing sound in it, Only bruises, welts and raw wounds, Not pressed out or bandaged, Nor softened with oil.
used oil and wine as topical agents
James 5:14 NASB95
Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
Luke 10:34 NASB95
and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
This doesn’t mean that modern surgery or pharmaceuticals are unbiblical,
only that, when the Bible was written, those treatments had not yet been invented.
There is no reason to believe that we shouldn’t use whatever methods are at our disposal to improve or correct our health.
Unless of course if God specifically tells you otherwise.
God may have another plan for you, and its more important to obey Him
but just make sure your hearing from Him clearly!

6. Erroneous Theology

Some people cannot be healed because they believe God's healing ministry has ceased to function.
They are Cessationists.
They believe we are in another dispensation where miraculous healings no longer occur.
It's hard to be healed when your theology does not allow for divine healing anymore.
Hebrews 13:8 NASB95
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Exodus 15:26 NASB95
And He said, “If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.”

7. non-specific prayers

Our prayers may not be specific enough for us to be healed.
Jesus always encourages specific prayers.
Matthew 20:30–34 NASB95
And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” The crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.” Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.
We may pray for physical healing when the real need is for emotional healing.
Our prayers may be too surface and not get down to the root issue that needs to be healed.

8. Accomodation of sickness

Some accept their sickness as a way of life.
They give up hope for healing.
John 5:1–8 NASB95
After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes. In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered, waiting for the moving of the waters; for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted. A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, “Do you wish to get well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.”
Like the man who had been crippled for thirty-eight years they have accommodated themselves to their lot in life.
Jesus initiated the healing of this man and commanded him to take action.
When he did he was instantly healed and could walk.

9. Neglect of Natural Means of Health

God has designed us to function optimally with the appropriate amount of sleep.
Our bodies are made for physical exercise and healthy eating.
When we neglect our bodies we limit the healing God can give us.

10. Belief that sickness is required by God

John 10:10 NASB95
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Sickness was never part of God’s plan
but rather a deviation caused by the fall.
Some respond to sickness by believing God uses it to teach them a lesson or to share in the sufferings of Christ.
Yes that’s true God can use it
but if you believe God requires t you to be sick and thus they do not seek out or believe God for a healing you are coming into agreement with the one who caused the sickness in the firstplace.
There are powerful lessons to be learned in battling sickness and pursuing healing.
