The Peace of God Umpiring In Your Hearts
Do All things in the Bond (unity) of Maturity
The Word of The Christ Dwelling In You
Doing All things in the Character of Christ
Submitting for the Benefit, Colossians 3:18-25
Submitting for the Benefit, Colossians 3:18-25
Submitting - placing or arranging yourself to stand under the control of another, to yield
A Military Term
Willingly submitting for the benefit it brings
Christ submitting to Mary and Joseph, Luke 2:51
And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart.
The flesh not willing to submit to the law of God, Romans 8:7
because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
Israel not submitting to the righteousness from God, Romans 10:3
For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
Submitting because of order or rank
The demons submitting to the name of Christ, Luke 10:17
The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
All things will be brought into subjection to Christ, 1 Corinthians 15:28
When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.
Submitting to the Authorities of Human Institutions, 1 Peter 2:13-15
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,
or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.
For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Within the Body of the Christ (The Church)
Submitting to each other, Ephesians 5:21
and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Expressing Love Towards Other Saints
Submitting to Those who Work and Labor in the Word, 1 Corinthians 16:16
that you also be in subjection to such men and to everyone who helps in the work and labors.
Not Submitting to False Teaching, Galatians 2:5
But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.
Submitting with Respect, Ephesians 5:21
and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Unto Christ as The Head, Ephesians 5:24
But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Wives to Their Husbands, Colossians 3:18
Wives to Their Husbands, Colossians 3:18
Colossians 3:18
Wives, submit for a benefit to your husbands, as it is proper in the Lord.
They are to be subject to their own husband, not all men, Titus 2:5
to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
As unto the Lord, Ephesians 5:22
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Christ is the head of the Church, Ephesians 1:22-23
And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Marriage Represents the Mystery of Christ and the Church, Ephesians 5:32
This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
As the Husband Expresses Love, Ephesians 5:28
So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;
She is not a Servant, but the Master of the House, 1 Timothy 5:14
Therefore, I want younger widows to get married, bear children, keep house, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach;
Husbands to their Wives, Colossians 3:19
Husbands to their Wives, Colossians 3:19
Colossians 3:19
Husbands, love your wives and stop being bitter towards them
Seeking the Best for Them
Not being bitter towards your wife
Same word used for Wormwood in Revelation, Revelation 8:11
The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.
An Attack From Satan, Hebrews 12:15-16
See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;
that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.
Bitterness is to be put off, Ephesians 4:31
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
In Honor as a Fellow Heir, 1 Peter 3:7
You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
Children to their Parents, Colossians 3:20
Children to their Parents, Colossians 3:20
Colossians 3:20
Children, obey your parents after all things, for this is well pleasing in the Lord.
Child-training and Discipline are an expression of love, Hebrews 12:6
For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
And He scourges every son whom He receives.”
Child-training is so that we are not condemned with those who do wrong, 1 Corinthians 11:32
But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.
Submitting because it is God Desirous will for You, Ephesians 6:1
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
It is showing Honor to Your Parents, Ephesians 6:2
Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise),
Christians are not under the Mosaic Law
The Law is Logical, Romans 7:14
For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.
Living Out Who We Are in Christ will Produce Righteousness, 2 Corinthians 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
As a fellow Christian, expressing love towards your parents, Romans 13:10
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Fathers Do Not Provoke Your Children to Anger, Colossians 3:21
Fathers Do Not Provoke Your Children to Anger, Colossians 3:21
Colossians 3:21
Fathers, stop provoking your children to anger in order that they should not be discouraged.
Know the difference between child-training and discipline
Child-training required objectivity of mind, 2 Timothy 2:25
with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,
The Intent of Child-Training is for the good of the Child, Hebrews 12:9-10
Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?
For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.
So they are not without fierceness or passion (not cowardly).
Slaves to Your Masters, Colossians 3:22
Slaves to Your Masters, Colossians 3:22
Colossians 3:22
Servants, obey after all things your masters according to the flesh, not in eye service as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart respecting the Lord.
Today this relationship is expressed in employment
Not submitting with eyeservice to please men
Serving as unto the Lord
With Your Emotions
As Ones Who Are Doing the Desirous will from the soul, Ephesians 6:6
not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
All Things Should be Done Unto the Lord, Not Men, Colossians 3:23
Colossians 3:23
And in all, whatsoever, you do, work it out from the soul, as unto the Lord, and not unto men,
Our Reward Comes from the Lord, not Men, Colossians 3:24
Colossians 3:24
intuitively knowing that of the Lord you will receive recompense of the inheritance.
Those Who Do Unrighteousness will be Compensated with Unrighteousness, Colossians 3:25
For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.
We Reap What We Sow, Galatians 6:7-8
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
Honor Your Masters Who are Christians, 1 Timothy 6:2
Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brethren, but must serve them all the more, because those who partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and preach these principles.
Not Argumentative, Titus 2:9
Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,
Not Just to the good ones, 1 Peter 2:18
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.
Masters are to offer righteousness and fairness, Colossians 4:1
Masters are to offer righteousness and fairness, Colossians 4:1
Colossians 4:1 (NASB95)
Masters, offer righteousness and fairness to the slaves, intuitively knowing that you also have a Master in Heaven.
When Others are Submitting To You, You Are Responsible for How You Treat Them
Not with Threats, Ephesians 6:9
And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
Treating Other Christians as Members of the Body
Treating Everyone with Respect, Galatians 6:10
So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
