It’s Worth Confessing Your Sin

ICC’s AM (3/26/22)

Who doesn’t want to be blessed?
To be happy?
1. Dr Ablert Mohler in his daily podcast about the news from a Christian worldview commented
She went on to say, "Even prior to today, I can honestly say that my life had been blessed beyond measure."
Now, there's nothing particularly wrong with that statement, but it does point to something else, and that is the reference now to God's providence as simply blessing.
Oprah Winfrey is one of the people who has popularized this in the larger culture, speaking of the experience of being blessed.
And many people have noted that basically secularized that vocabulary.
It became something that is simply a matter as if somehow fate in the cosmos, perhaps even accident, or for that matter, some kind of God had brought about something good.
Thus, we are blessed.

We often use the phrase you can bring a horse to water but you can’t make it drink
the phrase definitely dates back to the 16th century.
It appears in a book during that time by John Heywood called A Dialogue Conteinyng The Nomber in effect of all the Prouerbes in the English Tongue, 1546:
“A man may well bryng a horse to the water, but he can not make hym drynke without he will.”[ii]
ou know what they say about horses, “You can lead them to water, but you can’t make them drink.”
Well, no one ever said anything about tricking them into drinking water!
Some good tricks are soaking a pelleted concentrate, hay cubes, or beet pulp in two gallons of warm water as a meal to encourage water intake.
Sometimes mixing in a teaspoon of salt into the feed can help encourage more drinking…perhaps a big bag of salty, potato chips will do!
By keeping a close eye on the horse’s water source, and getting to know what is “normal” in terms of water consumption are both good ways to encourage proper hydration.[iii]
Truth there, but David would call to us to say.. don’t be a horse!d
