The Example of Paul
The Example of Paul
“And now I am bound by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me, except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead. But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Smith Wigglesworth, an evangelist from England, said: It is a blessed thing to learn that God’s will can never fail. Never listen to human plans. God can work mightily when you persist in believing Him in spite of discouragement from the human standpoint.… I am not moved by what I see; I am moved only by what I believe.
Foundational Truths to Believe to increase your trust in God:
Foundational Truths to Believe to increase your trust in God:
1. As I seek to advance God’s Kingdom, He will provide for every need.
1. As I seek to advance God’s Kingdom, He will provide for every need.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
2. God’s purpose will prevail.
2. God’s purpose will prevail.
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
3. There will never be a circumstance where I am unable to fulfill the will of God.
3. There will never be a circumstance where I am unable to fulfill the will of God.
I think of the example of Paul, who was often in highly unfortunate situations. At one point he was left in prison for 2 years, yet he was aware of God’s hand in it all.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
“Right now, what will it look like for me to trust God and move forward in my situation?”
4. My life is now about living for Christ as His ambassador, even though I may be considered a fool for Christ.
4. My life is now about living for Christ as His ambassador, even though I may be considered a fool for Christ.
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
5. Even when I fail, God doesn’t; and I am with Him. (Prov. 19:21)

6. I can step out in radical ways to advance the gospel, and count on the Holy Spirit to work in powerful ways.
6. I can step out in radical ways to advance the gospel, and count on the Holy Spirit to work in powerful ways.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Even in your weakness.
7. It is worth it!

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”
Paradigms that will Sabotage your trust in God.
Paradigms that will Sabotage your trust in God.
1. Secretly wanting it your way.
1. Secretly wanting it your way.
If you have your own agenda, you will not be able to trust God fully; not because you are afraid that God’s purposes are being thwarted, but because God’s will is at odds with yours.
When you do this, you put yourself at odds with God. Frustration, fear and anxiety are the results.
We all fall into this. You will fall into this during your trip. If you recognize it and surrender your will, once again, to the Lord, you will have the potential to be effective. But if you do not surrender your will to the Lord, you will be rendered innefective.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
2. Feeling entitled to ease and comfort.
2. Feeling entitled to ease and comfort.
It’s to hard.
It’s not what I want.
I’m too tired.
It’s not fair.
I’m the only one.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
