Happy Sunday.
I don't know if you guys are up on what today is and what has happened this week.
But I, hope you are ready to go.
Cuz it's time.
Certainly one of the week's most poignant comments that I'm aware of, that may end up to fighting Biden's presidency.
Was this statement where he was quoted as saying this man cannot remain in power.
I don't know what you think about President Joe Biden.
But I bet somebody will tell me.
But I imagine many of you agree with the sentiments that a totalitarian ruler like Vladimir Putin should not remain in power.
There have been the White House and other people in other governments have been distancing themselves from such comments, but that's not really.
The point that I want to labor on at all rather.
It is the call that this entity should not remain in power and in case you haven't heard it before or maybe you forgotten it.
Let me tell you here and now When you come to Christ the old, you must not remain in power.
When you come to Jesus Christ and you repent of your sins, then we are to live differently.
And sometimes just different.
When you put your trust in Christ, the old you is crucified with Christ.
Don't let that old.
You also come out of the Grave with Christ as well.
So to speak the old has gone.
The new has come.
Let's explore this and other truths found in 1st Corinthians, 7:17 through 24.
A bit of a reprieve between all the sex talk from last week and next weekend.
I'd like you to stand for the reading of God's word in 1st Corinthians, 17, 17, 17, 17 through 24.
Only let each person lead the life of the Lord has assigned him and which God has called him.
This is my ruling.
All the churches was anyone at the time of his call or be circumcised, but I'm not see to remove the marks of circumcision.
Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised.
Let him not seek circumcision.
Circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the Commandments of God.
Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called.
Were you a bondservant?
When called, do not be concerned about it?
But if you can gain your freedom, Avail yourself at the opportunity, for he, who is called in.
The Lord is a bond.
Servant is a Freeman of the Lord.
Like, why is he, who was free when called is a bond?
Servant of Christ.
You were bought with a price?
Do not become Bond Servants of men.
So, Brothers in whatever condition each was called, let him remain with God.
This is God's word and B, you to go ahead and take your seats.
Who am I?
Who am I? It's a question that I hope you have asked yourself.
Will continue asking yourself many times with throughout your life.
Who was, I, who did I use to be?
Who am I going to be?
And for us as our church?
An important question to consider today is who?
Are we?
Who are we?
I want to start turn over to 2nd Corinthians for a minute.
The same author, the same recipient in the church in Corinth.
The next letter says in 2nd Corinthians 5:17 if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.
The old has passed away.
Behold, the new present tense?
Perfect tense has come and it is actually the heiress tents which means it's going to be continuing into the future.
The new has come.
When we come to Christ, I think we can admit, we can understand, we can agree upon the fact that the we who we used to be is not the me of today.
But who am I?
Am I to be somebody with a prescription to follow?
Okay, here's my prescription.
So here's what I'm supposed to do.
Here is my actual scriptures and I'm supposed to say here's who I am as described in the Bible or is there more freedoms in that to be able to express myself in certain ways.
Who am I? Let me remind you that you are not if you are in Christ, I shame.
Inner, but you are a head held high walking redeemed.
One.
If you are in Christ, you are not a disobedient.
Decadent.
That is not who you are.
It's not your identity, rather.
You are a forgiving follower of the Good Shepherd.
You're not a towering addict or a prideful prig, but you are a sensible.
Save, Son, of God.
All Mighty.
It's who you are.
And so, who are we together together?
We are people who prioritize and recognize the power and position of Jesus Christ.
Then it just comes about.
What does that mean?
How do we live that out?
How do we walk worthy of that?
Romans 6:3 says, do you not know?
Can somebody this past a chapter doesn't do you not know that all of us who have been baptized.
Death.
Can buy baptism into death and order that Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father.
We might to walk in newness of like, how do we walk in the newness of like life?
And what does that look like?
417a 1st Corinthians 7 says only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and we just have to get her mind around.
Seemingly two similar ideas going on in this verse and this might be one of the most important verses for the 21st century Church.
Let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him.
Here, this word assigned is being used by Paul as a social class or status.
If you were a slave, if you were freed, if you were wealthy, if you were poor, whatever your social classes, this is something God has assigned to you, is not outside of God, Sovereign.
Well, you know, God is Sovereign in some things, but not in all things.
God is Sovereign it all things.
That's what's operant means.
The highest ruler Over All.
And then to which God has called in the first assigned, being the social class in which we have or the First Corinthian for the Corinthian Christians who he was riding to.
And the second called that salvific.
We can flip over to invite you to 1st Corinthians 1:9.
We've already gone through it, flip over there for a moment.
