Luke 19:10
Most people are zealots, thinking they are good enough.
The truth is we are like Paul....
Phil 3:4-6
Philippians 3:4–6 NKJV
though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
But after Paul’s salvation he viewed all of that as “rubbish”
Phil3:8
Philippians 3:8 NKJV
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Paul referred to himself as the foremost of all sinners (1 Tim. 1:15).
1 Tim 1:15
1 Timothy 1:15 NKJV
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost… YOU and ME!!
Son of Man was Jesus’ most common way of referring to Himself.
It describes both His humanity and His deity.
The verbs translated seek and save are infinitives, and express the purpose for which Jesus came into world.
To save is to rescue from harm and deliver from danger.
Lost translates a form of the verb apollumi, which means “to be ruined,” or “destroyed.”
Sin has devastated all of humanity, leaving lost sinners marred, corrupted, evil, ruined, and headed for eternal damnation.
Rom 3:10-18
Romans 3:10–18 NKJV
As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
Ephesians 4:17 NKJV
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,
But God, in His mercy, grace, and love, sent Christ to seek and to save those who face His wrath and judgment.
When a sinner does seek after God (
Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Amos 5:4 NKJV
For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: “Seek Me and live;
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 11:28 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
God called us “out of darkness into His marvelous light”
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Jesus shattered our state of death by making us alive.
Ephesians 2:1–3 NKJV
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Jesus prayed for you!!! (John 17)
