Through Your Story

Not in spite of, but through every part of your story.

I was talking to God and I told in spite of me, He will work out my life.

I heard Him say back not just in spite of but in every part of your life I will work it out.

The overwhelming sense I got, was that in all my mistakes and in all the times people did evil things to me, He will show how He has been and uses every aspect to tell His story.

The point of the today is for you embrace how Father is in and uses all of your story to send a message of how good He is through you.

I then felt led to look into Moses’s story.

The story of Moses and how God was in all of his story.

He was born Hebrew but all his age group were killed except him.

When they found Moses in the river how did they know he was Hebrew?

He was rased in an Egyptian royal house and even fed by Hebrew slaves.

He saw what was going wrong with how his kind were treated.

He tried to do something about it and killed one who was hurting his people.

Exodus 2:11–14 NASB95

11 Now it came about in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors; and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren. 12 So he looked this way and that, and when he saw there was no one around, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 He went out the next day, and behold, two Hebrews were fighting with each other; and he said to the offender, “Why are you striking your companion?” 14 But he said, “Who made you a prince or a judge over us? Are you intending to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and said, “Surely the matter has become known.”

At this point in Moses life, he likely feels like he does not belong to any of his people.

He does not fit in with Egyptians and or the Hebrews.

To make it worse he is not wanted by the people he wants to protect.

He probably feels guilty for being the only Hebrew boy his age that was saved and lived in luxury all his life.

Survival’s guilt.

Do you ever feel like you don’t belong?

He cant stop himself from protecting others though.

Exodus 2:16–17 NASB95

16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters; and they came to draw water and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock. 17 Then the shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up and helped them and watered their flock.

Now this family takes him in because he saved their lives.

He found a people who like who he is.

Maybe you found a way to be you but you know it is not doing what you are were born for?

Then the burning bush.

Exodus 4:10 NKJV

10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

Now God wants Moses to go back to a people who dont want him and save people who wont listen to him

God want Moses to go back to the place of all his trauma.

Maybe God has been brining up some of your trauma lately?

Maybe Father is prompting in your heart to believe or try again.

God comes to destroy Moses at one point in this story.

It was because his sons were not circumcised.

Moses wife instantly knew what to do and took care of that.

This is another sign that Moses was in an identity crises.

Exodus 6:12 NKJV

12 And Moses spoke before the Lord, saying, “The children of Israel have not heeded me. How then shall Pharaoh heed me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?”

Moses is trying to convince God of the fact that he can not do this because those people dont want him and those people wont listen to me.

Can you think of someone more qualified than Moses for this job?

He knows the ways of Egypt and their language.

He knows the Hebrews and their ways. He knows the promises of God’s people. He heard the stories from the ones serving him and raising him.

Are your trying to convince God that you can’t do what He is asking of you?

Moses was the perfect person for this job.

He did not think like his slave brother and sisters.

He was raised like a prince.

Moses was given exact plans of How God would set his people free.

Moses was also given a staff.

God is call you back to the places of trauma in your life.

He is giving you dreams and plans for what He wants to do in your life and in the world around you.

He is also giving you a gift of authority and trust in Him.

Closing:

God wants to write a message to the world in the form of a story, and that story is your life.

In order for this message to have an impact, it needs the good bits.

It needs failures, and bad time even so your Father can show His redeeming love, power and hope through your life.

Your story is being written already, so if we want a good story we should let Him author the message and the redeeming meaning of our story.

Father may send you to people and places where you have a history of being rejected in.

Not in spite of. but in every part of your story He will bring life through your entire life.

When you embrace that all of your story is what God is using, you will have new authority (staff) that will bring life.
