To Know God is to Worship Him - jeremiah 9:23-24 - youth lesson

We have talked a lot about prayer and really walking with God latley.

Why do you think it is so important to walk with God?

What do you think that it means to know God?

Jeremiah 9:23–24 NKJV

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.

There are some aspects mentioned in Jeremiah that indicate things in which have been viewed as important.

What does Jeremiah 9:23 list as things that people find glory in?

Wisdom, strength and money

These are all very familiar terms

I would even say that these are terms that we consider to be signs of success?

sadly, those within our culture who do so are misguided and confused.

Though these things can seem very beneficial and profitable they are often not.

Why do you think it is people find glory in these things?

People find glory in what feels good and often that is the temporary.

money may feel good for a season, but the rich are one bad decision from losing their wealth.

being strong may be awesome while your young, but eventually that strength will fade.

and you may be smart, but one disease can take away all wisdom.

You see all of things mentioned are not going to last.

but people still buy into them.

Jeremiah 9:24 however says this.

Jeremiah 9:24 ESV

but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”

What really brings God glory is for you and I to know HIm.

Now how can we know Him?

Now what Yahweh r God really wants is for His people to imitate him.

he want’s us to be like him, to act like Him.

What are the ways according to this verse we can be like Him?

According tot his verse these are the qualities fo God.

How wonderful they are!

it says this, The Lord exercises steadfast love, justice and righteousness.

You see, we always make excuses for yourself.

After we are saved sometimes people act as though it is ok to live in sin and ok to live apart of God’s righteousness.

when god created us at the creation of the world, he did so that we would be righteous.

He wanted us to be like Him and to live for Him.

What can you do to know God today?

You see today, I want you to understand that living a life in which you want to know the father is a big deal.

His word is something that can lead us, his presence is something that can guide us and through knowing Him we may begin to see true change in our life.

You see to know God is to leave sin, worldly desires, temporary joys behind.

It is to know that while those things may feel good an hour, or a day or even longer they will not feel good for an eternity..

What Jesus Christ did for us on the cross of Calavry was miraculous and awesome.

The very least we can do is choose to know him.

Romans 12:1 NKJV

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

You see in scripture, the OT has to uphold the NT. and Vice versa.

So when we say in Jeremiah that we have to know God we also see what Paul says in Romans.

Paul has told us a similar thing.

Paul has said that we have to be a livign sacrifice before the Lord.

holy and acceptable.

Our entire life has to be committed to Jesus Christ.

If our heart is not sold out to him then anything else is in vain.
