Scripture: Philippians 4:10-13
10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Subject: Living my best life.
The epistle of Philippians is said to be written by Paul. Between 61.A.D. during his imprisonment in Rome. Paul was thanking the Philippians for the gift that they had sent to him while in prison. And to strengthen them as believers by showing them true joy comes from Jesus Christ alone.
As children growing up our elders has taught us that it is always a good practice to let people know how you appreciate them. Especially when they do something for you. People do not have to do anything for you, but when they do show them some gratitude of thanks. Amen.
In our text today, we find Paul telling the Philippians how much he appreciates the gifts that they sent him while in prison.
Paul goes on to say I am not saying this because I am in need for, I have learned to be content what ever the situation.
Paul states that I have learned to be content, in other words Paul says I have learned to be in a state of peaceful happiness not matter what my situation is.
Even though season change, people change, and situation change, I have learned to be content. Why because Paul lets us know that he is not affected by outward circumstances, because they are not the focus of his life.
As we would say today, I can’t sweat the small stuff there are bigger fish to catch. We cannot get overwhelmed with life circumstance; we must concentrate on what is truly important.
Preaching the gospel (not the gossip)
We have been commission go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
We need to tell men and women that the wages of sins is death but the give of God is eternal life.
We need to tell them that Christ dies for their sins and on the 3rdday he was raised with all power in his hands.
We need to tell them that Jesus is coming back, no man knows the day nor the hour, but it behooves us to be ready.
Paul is telling us we can not worry about out circumstance we need to be content where we are.
Your attitude determines your altitude
The way you think, the way you feel, the way you look at thing, and your behavior determines the height and elevation you want to go.
Paul teaches us to think on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things
