Where does Jesus say follow me?
ἀπέρχομαι
Jesus “fails” to convince him to follow Jesus. What is Mark telling us? Jesus lets him walk away.
The rich were considered blessed by God.
Wealth can be a huge stumbling block to following God.
What are our cultural idols?
The wealthy man is coveting, which is more of a problem for the wealthy than the poor.
εἰσέρχομαι
Enter KOG and saved are synonyms.

This is about salvation and entering the KOG even if you don’t “need” to be saved (b/c you’re wealthy).
Jesus looked at him and loved him and the word
Persecutions sticks out.
The “first” in our world are not pursued by Jesus. They are allowed to be last.
Jesus has it all. Wouldn’t it be better to surrender to His gifts knowing he is a good good father?

Following Jesus, and giving everything up to Him doesn’t mean you lose everything. It means you are ready to receive anything from Him.

Who else fell on their knees before Jesus?
Jews were very careful with the word tov like holy.

compare to order of ten commandments.
What does he do with this order/missing? 1,2,3 and 10 are absent. 10 is thou shalt not covet which is the one thing he lacks.
