Text: Mark 10:46-52
Mark 10:46–52 NKJV
46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” 50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. 51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
Jesus is on his way out of Jericho and enters into Jerusalem- DIRECTION
The Bible says that there was a BLIND MAN sitting on the roadside begging- CONDITION
The blind man heard that Jesus was passing by and says
Jesus, son of David, -PERCEPTION
Have mercy on me-PETITION
The crowd tells him to be quiet
But HE CRIED OUT THE MORE, “JESUS SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ONME- DETERMINATION
They then tell him, be of good cheer, rise he is calling you.
He then took of his garment. -EXPECTATION
Jesus asks what do you want me to do,
He says Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.
Jesus says Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction- RESTORATION
The Bible then says IMMEDIATELY- ACCELERATION
DIRECTION:
With a great crowd following him, Jesus was on his way tho Jerusalem for that final Passover.
Jesus is on his way, to die for the sins of man, and he has to go through Jericho.
Jericho, at the time, was a dangerous place. It was a place of turbulence and disturbance.
And Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem to fulfill his purpose, but he had to go through a dangerous place.
And I want to tell you that before God allows you to fulfill your purpose, God will some times make you go through a dangerous place.
Jesus WAS just passing through.
Jesus had not stopped to teach to a great multitude and do miracles
Nor had he stopped to eat and rest from the hard work in ministry he had do.
No
Jesus was on the move.
But something happened, that made Jesus stop what he was heading to do.
Something happened that made Jesus take his eyes off of crucifixion
There was something pressing Jesus so much, that he had to stop and take care, of who was crying out to him.
IT WAS THE MAN’S CRY
The best way to get Jesus’ attention, is to cry out to him.
Psalms 120 says “Psalm 120:1 (NKJV): In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me.”
I know we like to dance in this season and I know we like to speak in tongues but its just something about you crying to him.
In this season we are in right now, the best way to get Jesus’ attention, is to cry out to him
An organ wont do it this time.
A drum wont do it this time
A dance wont do it this time
I NEED TO CRY OUT TO HIM.
It was when I cried out to him
THAT MY MARRIAGE WAS SAVED.
IT WAS WHEN I CRIED TO HIM,
MY BODY WAS HEALED
IT WAS WHEN I CRIED TO HIM
I KIDS STOPPED ACTING UP
Jesus had no intentions on stopping, but someone’s cry, got his attention.
Jesus is passing through Jerrico, and on his way out of Jericho,
A blind man who was sitting by the road side begging.
Here’s the condition.
HE IS BLIND
AND HE IS A BEGGAR
He lost his vision, and he lost his ability to provide for himself.
This man is blind, yet he heard that Jesus was passing by.
He’s blind, but he HEARD Jesus was passing by and he CRIED with a loud voice.
Which shows
He just used what he had.
He cries out, JESUS, SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me.
We have to look at his perception and his petition.
His perception, Jesus son of David
His petition, Have mercy on me.
This blind man had enough sense to know that this wasn’t just anybody.
He says JESUS, SON OF DAVID.
HAVE MERCY ON ME.
This BLIND BEGGAR IS REPEATEDLY ASKING JESUS TO HAVE MERCY ON HIM.
THIS man is blind and as a result of his blindness he becomes a beggar.
He’s used to begging,
he makes his living off of begging.
He’s at the bottom
But while at the bottom begging, he hears that Jesus is passing by, and he begins to do what he’s learned to do as a result of his blindness.
BEG.
ITs some things, that only the bottom can teach you.
I would have never known how to pray, if I was never at the bottom
I would have never known how to fast, if I was never at the bottom
My marriage would be broken, if I was never at the bottom.
There are some things that only the bottom can teach you.
He’s blind
He’s at the bottom
He’s begging,
But he gets Jesus attention
And the Bible says that when we was called to Jesus, he threw aside his garment.
He hasn’t gotten his miracle yet,
But he threw aside his garment.
His garment could have been what he used to keep his money in.
His garment may have also been used as warmth
But wether his garments were used as warmth or his garments were used as a source to keep money in,
He took his garments off, as a sign that, where I’m going, has to be better than where I am.
And some of us in here can testify. That some things that I had, were hard to let go, but where IM going, has to be better,
Some relationships, I just had to let go
Some jobs, I just had to let go
Some people, I just had to let go,
Because even though I haven’t gotten my miracle yet,
IM GONE PUT MYSELF IN POSITION TO GET WHAT I NEED.
DONT WAIT UNTIL THE BATTLE IS OVER.
CLOSING.
JESUS ASK Bartimaeus what would do you want me to do,
He says rabboni, that I may receive my sight.
Jesus said Go in peace your faith has made you whole.
Jesus didn’t Make a spittle and touch his eyes
He didn’t have to touch the hymn of Jesus garment
JESUS HEALED HIM WITH HIS WORDS.
