22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 After dismissing the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. Well into the night, he was there alone. 24 Meanwhile, the boat was already some distance from land, battered by the waves, because the wind was against them. 25 Jesus came toward them walking on the sea very early in the morning. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and they cried out in fear.

27 Immediately Jesus spoke to them. “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter answered him, “command me to come to you on the water.”

29 He said, “Come.”

And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

32 When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 Then those in the boat worshiped him and said, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

In the midst of a storm….” Who will you trust “???

—————————————————————————-—
Consistency is something that is done in the same way or looks the same over a period of time.
In the last two years, the world has taught us that it cannot offer consistency.
last two years we all learned how to pivot.
pivot - life, family, career, relationships, church
we been looking for consistency in the wrong places
we all learned bec of inconsistency of this world and its uncertainty.
in times of uncertainty, we must learn to lean on God and pivot to Him
He’s a consistent God, He’s the same, yesterday, today and forever more. He offers what the world cannot.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jesus is a consistent Lord.

He’s consistent in everything He does. He’s consistent in His ways.
with His love
His comfort
His peace
His strength
Through His consistency, He shows us over and over thats He’s trustworthy. That we serve a dependable God. That we serve a consistent God
( insert praise here )

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s a consistent God - ( inviting )

He’s consistent with His invitations. He’s always inviting, he’s always calling.
He’s always calling you to greater. Calling you to higher. He doesn't stop calling. He’s consistent.
I get worry now, when I get comfortable because I know He’s getting ready to stretch me and call me out into the deep.
In the Gospel alone, Jesus uses the language “ Follow Me “ over 20 times to the people around him. Why because He’s consistence, He’s always inviting.
He’s calling you right now, Who will trust you in this season?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Peter first met Jesus, Jesus first words to Peter was “ come, follow me “.

Matter of fact Jesus last words to His disciples were to “ Follow Me “
This world is more interested in being a leader than being than a follow. He’s looking for followers .
Jesus is consistent in His language, why because the world will always present another way.
His language is consistent.. “ Follow Me “. Despite what’s tempting you, follow me.
Peter is by the sea fishing and He says come fish with me. “ Follow Me “
Peter drops everything to go fish with Jesus. Peter drops everything, at the sound of “ Come “. Despite not knowing the full picture.
There are certain seasons in your life, and all you have from Jesus is a “ Come, follow me “.
Now here in Matt 14, Peter is not by the sea, but he’s in the sea. And Jesus says “ Come “
This isn't the first time Peter heard this type of language before. Because He’s a consistent God. God will use some familiar language, so
when you are in a storm, you will still recognize His voice.
Despite the storm, despite not recognizing His appearance. He recognize a familiar voice.
Jesus said “ my sheep know my voice “
John 10:4–5 CSB
When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger; instead they will run away from him, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s consistent in His ways. But what about when His ways send you towards the storm?

Matthew 14:22 CSB
22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.
What do you do, when the thing God called you to, is met with a storm?
we can easily question God?
Did God really say?
is this worth it?
maybe I missed you God?
The storm is not indicator if Jesus is with you or not. The indicator is that He’s always consistent. Despite the storm, Jesus was still calling them into the deep.
Despite the storm he was calling
Despite the wind, He was calling
Despite the battered boat, He was calling
The consistency here, regardless of your season, He’s always calling you.
I dont know what season you are in, But He’s calling you to move, step out… Come!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I find interesting, despite Jesus sending them into the sea first. He still ends up in front them hours later.

They go rowing, while Jesus go praying.
Never underestimate the power of prayer.
What took them hours, Jesus was able to get there suddenly. The power of prayer, what takes most years, God can do suddenly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jesus talks to them in the storm

Matthew 14:27–29 CSB
27 Immediately Jesus spoke to them. “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter answered him, “command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus.
12 was in the boat, but only 1 responded. Jesus spoke them, but only one responded
Matthew 22:14 KJV 1900
For many are called, but few are chosen.
All will not respond to the voice of God, but what about you.
12 was in the boat, but only 1 responded
12 was in the boat, but only 1 lean in and said Lord “ is it really you”
12 was in the boat, but only 1 step out
12 was in the boat, but only 1 look at the boat, look at the storm. Its a storm here and a storm there. But I know that voice.
Could it be that Peter was able to recall the voice that he first heard, by the sea. Is the same voice in the sea. Hes a consistent God.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come!!!!

It’s interesting that Jesus, calls them to walk on something, that normally people drown in. Jesus I know how to walk on land, but I never walk on water.
What do you do when Jesus calls you to walk on a different type of terrain. Many in this season are walking on terrain they never experince and God is saying trusdt me.
Come!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Closing

In one season we easily blame the devil but in another season, we recognize it was God all alone.
v. 26 - they called it a ghost
v 33 - they said it was God
Be careful how you prescribe your season. Learn to listen , rather than looking.
Your staying put because it doesnt look like God, but my question is, does it sound like God.?
My question is “ in the midst of uncertainity and inconsistncey” Who will you trust?
Some trust in horses, some trust in chariots… but we will trust in the name of the Lord!
Come!!!!
