Stand Firm

1 Peter 5:5–9 The Message
And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for— God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people. So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith.
A few weeks ago I preached on the subject foundation and asked you all a question of how firm your foundation is. Today I want to speak to you about another type of foundation which is faith and humility. I want to ask you to examine yourself today and check to see if you have a Firm Grip on Your Faith?
There is so much going on in this world now that we have to make sure our faith is grounded in God and that we stay Humble in all things that we do as that is pleasing to God. We have been watching for the past months the tension between Russia and Ukraine. We have Christians with faith in the God they believe and humility within them, and then we have a side that wants to have control and dictate others through pride and selfish motives.
