But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Sow? What does this mean

Bountifully? What does this mean

What is the Bounty? What is the Harvest? What are the Blessings?

A part of the Bounty or Harvest is God’s Love!

2 Corinthians 9:7 NKJV

purposes in his heart

Purpose -

not grudgingly

lupe (loop-ay) grief or sorrow. emotional pain experienced when unhappy.

or of necessity

ananke (a-non-kay) the state of being absolutely required.

We don’t guilt people into giving we teach people that giving is part of our life

Paul is not giving them a guilt trip but a give by example lesson!

1 Corinthians 16:2 NKJV
On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
To give should be a natural response to God’s grace.
The commandment is not to give but to lay aside what you have decided to give. Because giving for the Christian should go without saying!

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.

A Cheerful Giver Will Reap God’s Generosity

A part of the bounty or harvest is God’s generosity!

2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:9 NKJV
As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.”
Psalm 112:9 NKJV
He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor.
Paul is quoting Psalm 112:9 and summizing that the one who gives righteousness will stand in the eyes of God forever.
2 Corinthians 9:10 NKJV
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,
Isaiah 55:10 NKJV
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,
Paul is making a connection that giving is righteous, and helping the poor will help in their righteousness because they will unite the church, the poor Christians at Jerusalem who are spiritual can pray for them and help them with their spirituality.
2 Corinthians 9:11 NKJV
while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.
Their giving will cause others to appreciate God!
