Introduction- Women Who Had/Have Good Religion

Good morning my name is Sam. Your pastor askEd me to be here today to give my testimony of the church
Luke 8:1–3 ESV
1 Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.
Lydia Acts 16:14-15 had religion
Acts 16:14–15 ESV
14 One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. 15 And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.

Transition To Body

Others Ought Testify Of Your Faithfulness- vv1-4

Body- A Holy & Hospitable Church

Others Ought Testify Of Your Faithfulness (vv1-4)

3 John 1–4 ESV
1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
faithfulness towards the truth of Jesus

Strangers’ Testimony Of The Church’s Love (vv5-8)

3 John 5-8
We came to be

revived

Opposition’s Testimony Of Their Selfish Intentions (vv9-10)

3 John 9–10 ESV
9 I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority. 10 So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.
Confronting and dealing with conflict within the church
1 Corinthians 12:4–7 ESV
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Church’s Testimony As Children Of God- vv11-12

3 John 11–12 ESV
11 Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself. We also add our testimony, and you know that our testimony is true.
Imitate Jesus Christ
Romans 8:29 ESV
29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Transition To Close- Pure unadulterated religion before God the Father

Negro Spiritual “Certainly LORD”
1 Have you got good religion, Cert’nly, Lord! Have you got good religion, Cert’nly, Lord! Have you got good religion? Cert’nly, Lord! Cert’nly, cert’nly, cert’nly, Lord!
2 Do you love ev'rybody, Cert’nly, Lord! Do you love ev'rybody, Cert’nly, Lord! Do you love ev'rybody? Cert’nly, Lord! Cert’nly, cert’nly, cert’nly, Lord!

For God So loved the World!

John 3:16–17 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
James 1:26–27
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Close- For the sake of the name!

3 John 7 ESV
7 For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles.
Luke 18:28 ESV
28 And Peter said, “See, we have left our homes and followed you.”
Luke 18:29 ESV
29 And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
Luke 18:30 ESV
30 who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.”
Mark 7:37
And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
Philippians 2:8–11 ESV
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
