King James Version Psalm 26
3 For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes:
And I have walked in thy truth.
Mrs. Mary Browers favorite book of the Bible was the book of Psalms.
Mrs. Mary Browers favorite book of the Bible was the book of Psalms.
No doubt many of us that are here would agree with her.
Throughout the book of Psalms there is a word that rarely appears outside of this book and it is the word “lovingkindness.”
Of the 30x this word is used 24 of those uses are found in the book of Psalms.
The Hebrew word is the word Hesed.
Listen to the definition of this word and you tell me if this doesn’t sound like a description of Mrs. Mary’s character.
Hesed means faithful.
It means goodness.
It means gracious.
Mrs. Mary was all of those things.
As I was reading some of the memories that the family shared with me on Saturday, it was obvious to me that Mrs. Mary’s life exemplified what it meant to display lovingkindness.
Mary was faithful to seek out opportunities to show goodness to any and all that she could.
Here at the Baptist Tabernacle, where Mary and her family have been members for many decades, Mary was involved in many different areas of service.
She was a Sunday School teacher.
On the decorating team.
Always faithful to go on visitation.
Cooked food for many activities and for people in need.
She loved when the missionaries would come to the church.
She was just an all around servant.
Anyone that interacted with Mary was bound to be touched by her lovingkindness.
Mary’s lovingkindness grew from her relationship with Jesus.
Mary’s lovingkindness grew from her relationship with Jesus.
In the Bible, anytime we see the word lovingkindness, it is always referring to God and His character.
Mary discovered something that most of our world doesn’t understand.
God is not an angry old man looking for people to make miserable.
He is a loving God that offers us not only a solution to our sin, but also a better way to live.
Mary spent some of her early adult years away from God.
After she had kids, she realized her need for this better way of living.
Mary sourced her lovingkindness from the most loving and kind being there is, God.
BTW, she is experiencing His lovingkindness in a whole new way right now.
Mary loved prophecy.
One of the reasons that so many Christians love prophecy is because they have an innate longing to be with their Savior.
They have learned about Him.
They love Him.
They can’t wait for their faith to become sight.
Mary’s faith is sight.
If you thought Mary was sweet and precious here on this earth, can you imagine what she is like now in heaven?
I still remember one of my earliest, and still sweetest memories of Mary.
I was very new at the church, I had only met Mary a few times.
We didn’t have a secretary so i answered all the calls.
Mary called the church.
This morning we know exactly where Mary is.
This morning we know exactly where Mary is.
She is more alive than she has ever been.
She made the decision long ago to trust Jesus with her eternity.
If she were able to speak to you today, she would want you to make the same decision.
